IRVING -- Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett will be back to start his fourth season as the head coach of the Cowboys next year. That much seems clear.

What we don't know is how many of his assistant coaches will be back.

Garrett said his conversations with owner Jerry Jones concerning his job security were positive, and that he's focused on doing his job.

He would not say whether the team will stick with the current 4-3 defense installed by defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, or whether Kiffin will be back.

What does Garrett have to do with it, really? They aren't his to hire or fire. Which, alas, is one of the many problems around here... this isn't Garrett's team. Garrett is a piece on Jerreh's chess board.

why drudge up a 2 week old article to say the same thing that every other thread says? We get it! Jerry runs the show! JG is a puppet. That seems to be the only thing that is said each and every thread. I was hoping to get some real news about the coordinators :-(

He is not a puppet. Landry wasn't a puppet. Neither is he.

I'm simply quoting the mantra that seems to have taken hold here. It's getting old because people are flooding every thread with it. I know we are all frustrated but come on how much do we have to harp on the same frustration we all have. I guess that is just what the board becomes every year in the off season but it's not fun to read over and over again. Of course I could not come to the board but I've been doing so everyday for a decade so it's hard to stay away.

I'm sorry it was in today's feed and I didn't look at the date. My bad.

Garrett committing to the staff is like him committing to the Mars space program....he knows nothing about that either, or even if there is one to comment about

I don't know what you're looking for. You can't talk about any aspect of this team and not include Jerry in some way since that's the way he wants it, regardless of what we as fans think. We can talk all day about team needs and deficiencies and Jerry once again will enter the conversation for various reasons. The fact that the same names keep being brought up in threads is a product of the way the owner wants us to think about this team. He's an attention *****.

Having said that, Garrett's a close #2. We can hide personnel flaws to some extent, But include coaching gaffes with those personnel deficiencies and we don't stand a chance. Once again though, don't blame the fans or the board here. The owner/GM who basically came out and said about Garrett what we've suspected all along. We can't get any indication from a Garrett interview about where this team is headed because Garrett has very little say in who gets hired, fired or plays. He tried in the off-season to tell us that he was going to continue calling plays until Jerry over ruled him. He's more of the guy in a company that works in the mail room and has aspirations of working his way up the ladder and becoming CEO one day. Jerry told us what he thinks of his HC....he's a trainee.

We all want news and tidbits of information but that's impossible to get any from interviewing anyone other than Jerry and even then he talks in some lip smacking code and everyone here tries to decipher what the senile old goat is trying to say. We're all held hostage by this ego maniacal lunatic.

Not true. Figurehead. Not the great and powerful Oz. Just a title.

Well, we are run just like any other organization, or so I'm told. Although I admit the HC in training comments did throw me off a bit. But you'll never convince me that a mail room clerk is not an integral part of any company/organization.

They should. It was just words. Has no effect at all on the game that is played on the field. It is all about execution and well things just happen. That's football.

Well...he's also noncommittal concerning the running game, but everyone knew that.

Along the same lines, I never used to listen to what our Athletic Director (ie: figurehead similar to GM in our case) had to say. It still came down to execution so you make a valid point........

Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones said on his radio show on 105.3 FM Monday that the biggest challenge the team has is to get a better roster -- especially the front seven on defense.
Stephen seems to have a good grasp of our biggest weakness. Hopefully that will mean we will dedicate some of our off season resources to upgrading that area.

Unfortunately he will be part of the group trying to make the roster better.

So the roster won't be getting better.

Parking will probably go up though and the price of stadium tours.

Why the hell are we waiting around to make these moves? Other teams are firing and hiring top guys. But we're waiting around?? Why???
