I have come back to Abdullah as a very good pick for us. I have been thinking that we have to get a workhorse type. But AA is a game breaker with incredible elusiveness to make defenders miss. Other than the 40, he was at the top of every athleticism drill at the combine: shuttle (#1: 3.95; no other RB broke 4.07); Three-cone (#1: 6.79); broad jump (#1: 130 inches); bench (#7: 24 reps). He was the offensive MVP of the Senior Bowl with 7 rushes for 73 yards and 4 catches for 40 yards. Not only was he explosive and elusive, but he was physical; watch him truck a DB at :40. In addition, he was incredibly productive in collect, a team leader and has great character. Not sure why he wouldnt be a perfect fit as a first and second down back with McFadden the third down back.

a potential deal breaker for me is his extreme fumbling problems, his really small hands might be a big contributing factor.

Fumbles all the time and can't pass protect. He will end up as a glorified Lance Dunbar who can't see the field for those exact issues as it is. I'll pass.

I am starting to really like that young man. Very good player and his attitude and smarts would be very nice to have. That type of player almost always has a good career. He will over achieve IMO.

I hear ya, but Abdullah is 5'9" and 207; Dunbar is 5'8" and 188. Adbullah was the weightlifter of the year at Nebraska. I think pass protection can be taught if the RB is strong and tough enough. I think he is.

STRENGTHS
Decisive runner with good lower-body drive and a willingness to run behind his pads. Finishes his runs. Has NFL-caliber burst and can hit top speed quickly. Defenses must respect his ability to turn the corner on play-side. Patient runner with plus vision. Willing to seek out cutback lanes. Rarely dances to the line or makes unnecessary lateral moves. Isn't a predictable runner. Lacks blazing top-end speed but plays fast. Highly competitive with a high football IQ. Hasn't dropped a pass in two years and can be a valuable weapon in passing attack. Will make arm tacklers pay and is better in short yardage than most backs his size. Can help immediately as a punt or kick returner. Personal and football character is considered off-the-charts by the scouting community.
WEAKNESSES
Lacks ideal size that teams look for from a three-down running back. Frame is close to maxed out. Doesn't always go through his pass routes at full speed. Smallish frame causes some issues in pass protection. Tenacity in protection needs to improve. Ball security is a legitimate concern with 13 fumbles over his four years at Nebraska.
DRAFT PROJECTION
Round 2
SOURCES TELL US
"He has the highest overall character grade I've ever given to a prospect, and includes both football character and off-the-field. Aside from (Melvin) Gordon and (Todd) Gurley, I think he's the third best running back in this draft." -- AFC North scout
NFL COMPARISON
Andre Ellington
BOTTOM LINE
Despite having first-round talent, Abdullah's lack of preferred NFL size and issues with ball security might cause some teams to shy away from him in the opening round. Abdullah has explosive potential as a runner and ball-catcher and is a natural zone-scheme fit. His high character will make him a hit during interview process.

His JR and SR rate of fumbles went way down to about 65. He fumbled less every year. Also at least 1/4 of his fumbles were at the "mesh point" which can sometimes be attributed to the QB. He is my #2 RB behind only The Gurley Man.

No thanks. He is about the last RB i want.

I want to draft a RB who has the potential to play all three downs.

When the worst fumbler is also tied for having the smallest hands, I tend to think that he'll probably continue to fumble.

I agree that Dunbar and Abdullah are not all that similar.

I wish that Dunbar and Randle would have received more carries in 2014. It's still hard to know what they really can or can't do. Dunbar did well with the few carries that he received. He even had a couple of tough inside runs. Most of the time when he was in the game the defense knew what the play would be and he still had some success on those outside plays.

Love Abdullah and I started this draft process out with him as my pet cat. The fumbling is not a deal breaker but a definite weakness. If he's going to be our starter, that has to get under control. 1 in 35 is just horrific.

Tells me he can work out well but is on the low end of practically every physical attribute there is.

There is no way I would take him to be anything other than a complimentary back. If I want a starter or a back that takes a good chunk of work, he is not even a consideration. His best shot is to find a landing spot that gets him into a Sproles-like role.
