Interesting how it hasn't been mentioned what painkillers they injected him with to come back and play. A very impressive comeback win, considering he couldn't feel 1/2 of his ribcage!

Toradol, most likely.

The N.F.L. says teams are required to keep records of all prescription medications administered to players, including painkillers like Toradol, which is injected, and Vicodin, which is taken in pills. The N.F.L. says it monitors those records.

The league has no specific policy on injections, saying it is a matter between players and team doctors. The Players Association has not commented on the subject.

I read somewhere, ("somewhere" meaning I don't remember where so I can't give you a link) that Romo did not get an injection during the game, just an oral painkiller.

I've heard that athletes should never take "the shot" - I guess it's similar to the situation in the movie Varsity Blues..what are they referring to? What's the actual medication thats being administered? Or is that just BS in movies? I've always wondered

I saw that reported somewhere earlier this week as well

No, this is not what I heard. I want to say I heard Broaddus on the radio and he specifically mentioned that Tony was injected. I think I remember this correctly

...and sometimes crushed and snorted, like Oxy :)

Edit: That's a great article, btw. Underscores the point I was trying to make; these things are definitely glossed over by the media and buried by the league.

Still had a punctured lung. What's your point? I smell a troll.

If so, he's not a very good troll. I don't see his point.

This is probably correct. It is easy to relieve pain in 1or 2 ribs with an injection into the nerves which are carrying the pain to the brain. Drugs used were probanly marcaine or xylocaine. Vicodin, tramadol, percodan(oxycodone) would interfere with his mental alertness and would not be nearly as effective for pain relief as a nerve injection. You can bet that he will be injected Mon night.

Thats what remember reading too. Who cares what diffrence does it make. Lets hope whatever it was, he does it again Monday night.

I expect that players take injections all the time.

Tony will likely get a shot before the game Monday as well.

that wouldn't be a smart move. An oral painkiller is something that you likely give a player after the game, not during. A painkilling shot is far better for acute pain like a broken rib, especially if you are going to try to play on it

There have been mixed reports on whether Romo got a shot. Jerry Jones supposedly said that he DID.

And this isn't a performance enhancer how? LOL.

He probably doesn't play without some kind of pain-killer....

How do these pain killers not impair his judgment? Like, how many Jesse Holleys did he see out there?

This. Probably Marcaine.

Well, the pundits noticed certain parallels between Romo and Favre in the past :)
