Dallas Cowboys trade the 18th overall pick to the STL Rams for their 22nd overall and 78th overall. The cowboys are on the clock at 18 with Joeckle, Fisher, Lane, Floyd, Richardson, Cooper, Warmack and Vaccaro off the board. Rams jump up to grab Austin.

1st Round:

-22nd Jessie Williams (Gives us a player that could develop into an elite player who could play 1 tech or 3 tech)

2nd Round:

-47 Chris Faulk (Once considered an elite prospect before injuring his knee. He fits into our injury prone 2nd round pick trend.)

3rd Round:

-78 Joe Kruger (I'm completely sold on this kid. I think he is going to make a great SDE. He has great initial quickness and strength. He still needs to develop a little bit more on the pass rush side.)

-80 Duke Williams (The more I look at this kid the more impressed I become. He has some flaws in his game but easily has the physical tools to play in the NFL. He seems to always be around the ball making plays.)

4th Round:

-114 Kenny Stills (Every time I watch him he is making plays. Going to be a great #2 after some development IMO)

5th Round:

-151 Marcus Lattimore (This guy can be the real deal if he can come back from his injury)

6th Round:

-185 Brian Winters (He had a dominating senior season and good measurables. He is going to need some development, but so do all late round offensive lineman.)

UDFA
- DJ Monroe (Man this kid has some wheels. I believe he can be a 3rd back and a solid SP contributor
-Collin Klein (The kid just wins. He is big and fast, worth a UDFA signing.)
-Lucas Reid (Had a great pro day and wowed with his physical talent. He can come and compete for the third TE spot. Brother of Brooks Reid.)
Of course there will be more UDFA but here are a few I have my eye on.

I like most of the players; however, the draft slots where you picked some of them seems out of whack.

1st Round:
-22nd Jessie Williams
In game footage he just does not play like a quick-twitch Kiffin type DLineman, IMO. He did run a really good forty, but he was not much of a pass-rusher in college. Kiffin and other Kiffin inspired defenses want pass-rushers on DL, even at the 1-tech.

2nd Round:
-47 Chris Faulk
I like this player; however, this is forcing the pick as opposed to letting it come to you. Most projections have him as a 3rd to 5th round pick.

3rd Round:
-78 Joe Kruger
Decent developmental player, but the 3rd round seems really early.

-80 Duke Williams
OK, but will all the Safeties in this years draft, I think there is a good chance that he is available later.

4th Round:
-114 Kenny Stills
Reasonable pick here if his character issues check out OK. The 4.38 forty at 6-1 could push him up the draft board, but his character issues could push him down.

5th Round:
-151 Marcus Lattimore
OK. This is totally a medical decision. He has proven talent, but the injury looked really bad. The Cowboys really need a RB that can contribute this year. They might consider taking one in the 6th also if Lattimore is going to be on IR for 2013.

6th Round:
-185 Brian Winters
I don't see any possibility that this player falls to the 6th round. Most projections have him as a 3rd round pick.

I am in agreement with walker, too early on Faulk and I agree on your assessment of his talent. I give you credit you have stuck with Krueger for a couple of months now, I have yet to see the light. Lattimore is not playing this year from what I read seems like a tough break for a good kid. I am thinking at the first round we might have on the menu Vaccarro, Warmack, Richardson, or even Werner if one of those is available I would not like Jesse with our pick.

I know a lot of people have Faulk slotted later in the draft. I have him as the 4th to fifth best tackle. I think he is going to be a player and if you want him you take him right there. I have a suspicion that Kruger is going to go in the second. I'm hoping he slides into the third. Duke Williams is a player that has really intrigued me of late. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a late riser, especially with his combine performance. On the other side of the coin i'm not sure how far winters is going to drop because of his combine showing. I originally had him in the forth-fifth, but his combine was pretty bad. No one really knows how the draft will play out but I would be pretty happy if it worked out this way. Still need to work a FB in though :laugh2:

While I agree that some of these guys are taken in the wrong spot, I wouldn't be too disappointed if this was our draft class.

Only two guys on this list I see remotely becoming Cowboys are Faulk and Winters, just not where you have them. I think they have a high interest Faulk and Winters though.

Me too. I like alot of these players, actually.

Instead of Jesse Williams though, I think the more likely player in a trade down would by Sly Williams.

1st Round:

-22nd Jessie Williams (Gives us a player that could develop into an elite player who could play 1 tech or 3 tech)

This guy is going to be a lot better then anybody thinks. I see him as 2Gap DT in a 43. He can actually play 0 or 1 if you need him to and he could play NT in a 34 or DE in a 34. He is not a 3Tech IMO but he is a guy who will force double teams and he will play every snap. What you see now is the tip of the iceberg IMO. He's only played football a couple of years. He's still learning the game. I would take him in a minute and not regret it.

2nd Round:

-47 Chris Faulk (Once considered an elite prospect before injuring his knee. He fits into our injury prone 2nd round pick trend.)

Well, I have to admit that I like a few other guys better but I see why you picked him. I would rather see him taken in the 3rd or 4th but if he can play the way he did in 2012, he's well worth a 2nd round pick and probably a 1st.

3rd Round:

-78 Joe Kruger (I'm completely sold on this kid. I think he is going to make a great SDE. He has great initial quickness and strength. He still needs to develop a little bit more on the pass rush side.)

I also like Kruger. I watched the same things you did probably. Never takes a play off, has good size, good strength and really good feet. He plays a little high but if he gains weight, which I believe he can, that might not hurt him as much. Learn to play with a little better lean and improve on his rush technique and I love him at DE in a 43. I do think this is too high thou. I like him in the 4th or 5th.

-80 Duke Williams (The more I look at this kid the more impressed I become. He has some flaws in his game but easily has the physical tools to play in the NFL. He seems to always be around the ball making plays.)

One of my Pet Cats Son. I think Duke Williams is going to be a nasty little player in the NFL. I think he's going to bring it and people are going to be very surprised. He has all you could ask for but again, too high. Switch Winters and Williams and I love this pick. Maybe a little higher though. Like 5th Rd.

4th Round:

-114 Kenny Stills (Every time I watch him he is making plays. Going to be a great #2 after some development IMO)

Maybe the only player we disagree on. I don't like Stills. Maybe it's just an OU thing for me, IDK?

5th Round:

-151 Marcus Lattimore (This guy can be the real deal if he can come back from his injury)

If he checks out, he's a steal here but then again, if he checks out, he probably doesn't last till the 5th. However, if we could get him here, I think that would be a heck of a pick.

6th Round:

-185 Brian Winters (He had a dominating senior season and good measurables. He is going to need some development, but so do all late round offensive lineman.)

I think he's going to be a guy that ends up having a career a lot like Kosiers but with better ability to pull and lead. I love him but he won't be available in the 6th I don't think. I think you have to take him higher if you want him.

Monroe could possibly play STs for you, not sure if he can be a WR for you though or a RB. He's really small but he is fast. He can make things happen.

Klein, if he could get coached up and develop, could be a really good QB. He would take work though.

Guessing you mean Lucas Reed out of UNM? Yeah, I do like him and he is in the list of my guys who I like as prospects. He can do a lot and he's a willing guy. He will block or catch. He's a complete prospect but he has to get stronger I think. A developmental TE.

On second thought, I think I really like the Jesse Williams pick. We don't talk about him a lot here, but he's a big, strong and fast player capable of really beefing up our trenches.

Good call.

I don't like the Jessie Williams pick at all. I like Sly, Short, and Hankins all more than Williams if we are talking about trading down and taking a DT. Even Brandon Williams or Bennie Logan in the 2nd are pretty equal in my opinion.

A better draft for me would be:
Sly Williams
Faulk (if healthy I agree he is the 5th best OT)
Stills
Duke
Winters
Healthy RB instead of Lattimore (we just aren't in the position to make a luxury pick at RB)
Pass rushing DE (don't love Kruger, plays way too high and a tweener)

Hey ABQjr

It's been awhile.

I like several of the players, but unfortunately not where they were chosen.
The value, imo, is not there.

Thanks for the mock.

I love the Jessie Williams pick.

He will demand double teams with his size and strength, and will collapse the pocket, even if he doesn't get to the QB much.

His demanding a double will free up Ware immensely.

Ratliff on the other side with Spencer should cause a little havoc as well since the guard won't be getting lots of help from the center, Ratliff should be one on one with the guard who he is usually quicker than.

I could see this being the under rated steal of the draft -- because JW won't have the numbers -- but everyone else's numbers should go up because of him.

Exactly. This is exactly why I want this guy. I think about our DL and he's the type of player we lack.

he was always double teamed by other O lines

Jesse Williams: Ok.. Don't mind that pick

Faulk: Ok another pretty good pick

Krueger: WAY too early

Duke Williams: Too early again
Kenny Stills: Ok.. Like this pick

Marcus Lattimore: NO. You don't draft a guy a year away from playing at a position where we need a guy immediately

Winters: Will not be in the 6th under any circumstances

Kenny Stills has talent. He has a lot better talent than the 4th round, but his inconsistency will cause him to fall. He is a little bit of a Dez Bryant. If he falls this far, then I think it is great value with a day 3 pick.
