According to the article they have paid him $15 million already, seems to me they could have used that as a signing bonus on a long term deal.

I love the fact that he bulked up to 265 last season and was still productive.

he plays demarcus ware's position on the 3-4. can he play the strong side? i'm sure we could use him and ware on passing downs. but is it too much to pay for a situational guy?

What's the old line about never trading a pick for a guy that you have to give a huge contract to?

We especially wouldn't trade for him, give him a huge contract, and then ask him (or Ware) to switch sides. Just doesn't make sense.

Let's just hope Jerry learned his lesson on trading for a franchise player.

on madden maybe, but you would have to switch ware to the strong side. i doubt abraham can blanket jeremy stevens.

The guy is so quick at times it's unreal, but man is he an injury concern given his cap figure.

Greg Ellis straight up for Abraham. Thats about all we should give them.

You have two guys that play OLB. Ware has played both sides and I'm sure the Jets haven't just lined Abraham exclusively on the right side. It wouldn't be a situational thing. Not sure BP will want Abraham, but they as a pass rusher your not limited to playing one side. He would be more than a situational player.

Why would you have to switch Ware? They both has the athletic ability to do everything in the 3-4. Stout against the run, above average cover skills, and they can get to the QB.

I'd rather go with Carpenter/Lawson/or Tapp. They're young, and in 2 to 3 years, they will dominate. We will have a defense of young hungry guys, almost like the Cowboys offense of the early nineties.

Does anybody remember how he left the jets hanging in the playoffs in 04??? The guy is good but let his team down by refusing to play on a contract year for fear of risking getting injured. Premadonna folks, Canty is the man for us.

I usually don't condone this type of behavior but the Jets management deserved it. They made no attempts to lock him up and planned on using the frachise tag. Players like the security of a signing bonus and will play hurt if they have one. If Abraham would have played hurt and would have torn something, he would have gotten nothing as a FA. The Jets had no intrest in signing him to a long term deal and just used the tag on him again. I didn't think they had the cap room.
