Because the Falcons thought the #15 was too much obviously...Tass said:So why didn't the Falcons just trade their pick to the Jets? Why were the Broncos the middlemen?

Doomsday said:The Falcons didnt want to trade the 15th pick for Abraham, so they made a trade with Denver, picked 2 extra picks for their 15th pick and than traded Denver's 1st round pick to the Jets.
So basically it was two trades.Doomsday said:The Falcons didnt want to trade the 15th pick for Abraham, so they made a trade with Denver, picked up Denver's first plus 2 extra picks for their 15th pick and than traded Denver's 1st round pick to the Jets.
Not a bad deal if you ask me.Doomsday said:Essentialy they traded thier first round pick for Abraham and 2 picks from Denver.
Tass said:So now they are still stuck without a first round pick? Does that mean the Jets didn't want to unass Abraham plus picks?

Broncos-Gain-1st round, pick 15
Lose- 1st round pick 29, plus 2 additional picks
Falcons-Gain- John Abraham, 2 additional picks from Denver (probably early picks)
Lose- 1st round, pick 15
Jets- Gain- 1st round pick 29
Lose- John Abraham
Hope this helps. The Jets took it because the Seahawks could only offer the 31st pick in round 1.
I believe the Falcons picked up a 3rd in this years draft and a 4th in next years as part of this deal. Not bad for all the teams involved.dstew60105 said:ESPN said the Falcons got a couple of middle round picks from the Broncos for moving down. One pick in 2006 and one in 2007. Basically free money, since the Jets wanted a first in exchange for Abraham.
I believe it's their 22nd pick in this draft.vicjagger said:Don't the Broncos still own Washington's 1st round pick (for Jason Campbell)?
