AC/DC's Brian Johnson gives update on hearing loss

AC/DC’s Brian Johnson had to bow out of the Australian band’s current tour because of a hearing condition, but the singer revealed in a statement that things are looking up.
Johnson recently tried Stephen Ambrose’s ADEL hearing technology, and Ambrose shared an update from Johnson saying, “It WORKS.”
“I was really moved and amazed to be able to hear music again like I haven’t heard for several years now,” Johnson continued. “I can’t wait for it to be miniaturized so I can use it in every situation from normal communication, going out to noisy restaurants, to performing live music on stage.”
Despite the severity of Johnson’s hearing loss, he previously clarified that he’s “not retiring.” “My doctors have told me that I can continue to record in studios and I intend to do that … I am hoping that in time my hearing will improve and allow me to return to live concert performances. While the outcome is uncertain, my attitude is optimistic. Only time will tell.”
Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose has temporarily replaced Johnson on AC/DC’s Rock or Bust World Tour, which kicks off its American leg August 27 in North Carolina
