First, let me offer my apologies to the Football Gods/old geezers who seem to know everything about the sport, and who don't like young bucks like me asking stupid questions. Second, my humble, hat in hand question follows: Will the release of TO signify more accountability for Garrett and Romo? In other words, will JJ now look at Garrett and Romo and tell to put up great numbers or else? Again, your most humble servant asking a simple question...

It absolutely should. Neither will have the excuse that they "must" force the ball to Owens 20 times a game. I am interested in how each will do, with Ds playing them honest and not having to shadow any receiver not named Witten.

It will help Romo and the team. No longer will Romo have to keep the petulant one happy. He can drop back and throw to the open guy.

They only person with the "marbles" to hold anyone on the offense accountable was just sent packing!!!

Owens was a drive killer with his constant dropped passes and me, me attitude.

I think every season is different because some things, you just can't account for. Injury is always pretty key but my opinion is that pressure would have been there for Phillips any way you slice it. He needs to win now or I think his time is probably up. Garrett is a bit of a different story. I don't know if Garrett was the driving force on the TO move so I can't say if his head is on the block or not. I'd say that if he was the chief opinion that drove this and reports that Jerry was against cutting TO, then yeah, it would probably make some sense that Garrett would be feeling pressure. Romo, he's the QB and a significant long term investment. I doubt he will be feeling any pressure for his job any time soon. JMO.

the offense will be fine, even Owens' under study thinks so

"I know it takes a lot of pressure off Romo focusing on one main feature, like Terrell," Hurd said. "As a guy like him, he demands the ball and it made you want to try to get him the ball. With him being released [Romo] doesn't have one main guy, so he can look at every one of us and see whichever one is open on anyu play and get the ball to him.

I dont know if Owens was anymore of a drive killer then anyone else.

The man that touches the rock the most should be more accountable then anyone else.

Romo needs to make better decisions and he has to step up and be a leader of this team.

Unless of course the staff thinks this offense is going to be a running team now.....

Romo back to being a bus driver?

I agree. I do think the pressure is on Phillips to win if he does not then his time will be up but I also think if he can get this team to produce then he has a chance to stay a while longer. I have always believed in giving any HC the chance at least 3 years if he does well he has a chance to continue in the role as HC if not then a team has to look elsewhere. As for accountability I think all players are held accountable if you fail don't expect to be kept around long same goes for coaches.

The only knock I had on TO on the field was the fact he would not go up and fight for the ball. I watch many WR who when the pass is off target the WR will take on a defensive role of making sure if he can't catch it the DB is not going to get it either. TO produced no doubt but Romo hitting over 60% was due to good accuracy on his part that is not to say Romo did not have errant passes he clearly has but TO never did him any big favors in going up and fighting for the ball

Romo definitely needs to kick it up a notch from his current probowl level of play. There really isn't any other obvious solution.
