When i look at chords for songs, and than listen to them its hard for me to determine when the chord changes occur. I know of people that can tune guitars by listening im not one of those people. any suggestions on that matter, also some songs i try to play have multiple guitars so when i listen to them, what im playing hardly sounds like it. Does anyone know of any just one guitar songs, that i can hear the changes pretty good. Any suggestions, im used to picking things up and being good at them, sports etc but this is a bit of a challenge, im not complaining just looking to make things easier.
Funny thing. My brother in law just started taking lessons...before his teacher arrives, he'll call me and we tune his guitar over the phone. :
As far as changes...the key to it, until your ear develops, is your feet. Ya gotta tap 'em. In fact, you should never stop tapping them.
I think the easiest and most helpful way to start getting accustomed to changes is, a blues song. Go back to 1950's...get a Willie Dixon song...Muddy...any of those guys...
I also think this is the time for a training DVD...you'll find it helpful.
Right now, your ear isn't quite developed enough to hear changes..and ya see, the idea is to stay motivated...if you start to get frustrated, you're going to end up tossing the guitar across the room. SO.....you might want to get a beginner DVD..it'll be very helpful.
