After two straight years of not making the playoffs, and watching a terrible defense that borders on league worst, we head into a very important off-season if we want to return to at least playoff relevance.

This is the time of year when serious organizations with serious and well-thought out plans of actions begin to take action. Emphasis on action. Not press conferences.

And as usual, we are seeing guys named Jones talking a lot. Jerry says he wants to “break the budget” to turn this team around. He also said this week he wants George Pickens to be a Cowboy for the rest of his career. Hey, he’s basically once again crowing that he’s “all in”.

Yesterday on Dallas sports station The Ticket, I also hear that JJ is talking to George Pickens but NOT to his agent, David Mulugheta. Oh…I’ve heard this before. Then today we hear that “sources”inside the Cowboys organization (translation it’s SJ orJJ) say they will try to franchise tag Pickens.

Bottom line: They should shut up. Actions speak louder than a Jones. I won’t believe a syllable these guys say. I will believe action when it happens.

Some fans get excited when Jerry says stuff like “we’re gonna break the bank”. Feel free to believe that stuff if you choose. I’m waiting on the actions that back it up and the results on the scoreboard.

Couldn't agree more, Bullet.

1000% ^^^^^ this^^^^^^

I always find it humorously ironic when people make posts telling others to stop talking.

My suggestion of how to best handle the Joneses. Especially these days.

I agree 1000%, Bob, but you have to admit everything we have seen from Jerry so far this offseason has been different from the norm.
***firing his hand-picked DC after only one season ( paying off his contract )
***Giving Schotty authority to hire his own DC
*** Hiring a young DC with no previous experience
***Firing and paying off most Eberflus assistants
***Allowing the new DC to bring in his own guys

I know there is STILL plenty more work to do but so far we are off to a good start. Now let's see if Jerry can keep it going through free agency.

Definitely different than the norm.

Every year I struggle to find something to like about this horrible underachieving team.

And every year Jerry continues to run his mouth and gaslight the fan base into thinking they have hope only to keep us a coach or a few players short of actually achieving anything.

George Pickens was enjoyable to watch this year he was a baller made clutch plays caught the ball in traffic did things we hadn't seen from a receiver in a while.

Jerry's getting ready to screw this up he'll franchise tag him piss him off and the guy will go into Head Case mode and it will be a complete waste instead of just signing him to a contract and getting it over with.

Jerry always talks a good game and some fans are so desperate to believe him. Well we'll see but I won't hold my breath. He does just the minimum to get everyone off his back. We'll see what he does in FA and the draft. See if he is really serious about fixing this defense. See if he signs Pickens to a Long term contract or instead has a pissing match with him in the media because all publicity is good publicity. See if he takes a step back and let Schotty be the face of the franchise. We know that will never happen.

He can do that all he wants.

If he doesn’t bring in players to help the new coordinator who cares?

I’m not going to give credit to a guy for doing what 99 percent of other teams do when it took him years to get there.

This look in the mirror stuff has been said 10 times over the years. Guess what changed. Nothing.

I want to see Jerry spend.

And not on bringing in a guy on his last legs, not on a Sanborn. On an actual player.

We have to at least Tag Pickens or we wasted a 3rd and 5th round pick for Pickens.

I guess we didn’t expect him to have such an impactful season or we just threw draft capital out there to prop up Dak for a season we thought was going to go deep into playoffs until we traded Parsons which basically tanked the season propelling us back into another rebuild mode on defense.

Regardless the thinking it was horrible and leaves us in this conundrum of potentially wasting quality draft capital when we couldn’t have needed it more. All for an offense that was never going to be enough for a historically bad defense. I give Jethro a F again.

Yes it's best to wait and see with Jerry, he can tell us anything, and the typical will continue to happen. Wait, and don't get your hopes up!!

I agree and this happens a lot on here it's childish to the extreme!! Where did Haze tell anyone to shut up??? He's talking about the organization

Yep

But Jethro can’t help himself. He thinks talking strategy in public is feeding his base while hyping his brand.

Instead he divulges his hand. It’s like playing poker with your cards turned up.

Messed up part of it all, is that we're fans and we fall for it, we hope that he wants what we want, and it doesn't always seem like he wants what we want! He talks about it to get us all excited only to do nothing!!!! "There's not a check I wouldn't write!" That's all BS, if you're going to do things, do it, move in silence!!!!! You've done it this way for years, what has it gotten you (the last 30 years), time for something to change inside of Jerry
