Thomas seems to be a beast and everything but he really has done something in 1 year and that just happens to be the most recent.

You also have to consider the guys around him and also Ryan's defensive schemes.

I'm not saying he is a complete product of the system but his surrounding would help ANY linebacker in this league.

Briggs also thrived in a great system with boatloads of talent.

I'm always leary of someone who's only good year is in their contract year. Sorry but more often than not that tells me their is a work ethic issue involved. Now if he was willing to sign an incentive laden contract then I would be all for it. Also at 30 Thomas is rapidly reaching the end of a big linebackers useful life. He isn't Ray Lewis or Derrick Brooks who are both future Hall of Famers so I would shy away from him for that reason as well. Just my 2 cents. :D

Slim and none. He has history with 49ers Head Coach Mike Nolan and LB Coach Mike Singletary.

I don't know if history means all that much. If I were him, I wouldn't rule anyone out based on history. The 9ers don't exactly have a whole lot of talent to help him out on the defensive side of the ball.

Neither.
Lets see what our current defensive roster can do with a new scheme.
