Adam "Pacman" Jones In Rehab

Some folks believed that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s decision to reassess Pacman Jones’ status after “28 days” was code for “get thee to a rehabbery.”

Behind the scenes, the message was more direct. And Pacman has heeded it.

Late Wednesday night, the Dallas Morning News reported that Pacman has checked into rehab. Specifically, he’ll be getting treatment for alchohol dependency, which essentially represents an admission that he has been using alcohol, presumably in blatant violation of the terms of his probation arrangements in Georgia and Nevada.

The folks in Georgia won’t attempt to revoke his probation because he wasn’t arrested. It remains to be seen whether authorities in Nevada are inclined to attempt to add Pacman’s pelt to a collection that presently includes O.J. Simpson.

He's a human being that has made mistakes. The incident that got him suspended was over-blown. ESPN and the rest of the media were just waiting for anything to hurt Dallas. They love seeing the Cowboys crash and burn.

But hey.. the joke is on them Romo is back and we'll be flying high.

From a "Get Pacman back into the NFL" standpoint, it's a great strategy. Blame all your problems on alcohol - then show the commissioner that you've taken full responsibilty and acceptance of this disease followed by the subsequent treatment of it. Brilliant!

He's made too many mistakes.

I say you let the guy go.

Alchoholism is a disease, if he is in fact an alcoholic. The fact that Goodell seems to think rehab is where he belongs would suggest that's what he thinks too.....

The thing that ticks me off about the party where he got in the fight is how many other Cowboy players were present.

Alcholism is a disease is a crutch used way too often. Its up to the individual whether he or she beats it or lets it beat them- since they have CHOICE on how to go, to me using that as an excuse has always been pathetic.

Yawn, he'll just be back there in a year anyways with a new incident. I anticipate seeing him in a Toronto Argonauts uniform by 2010.

I question Pacman's motive here. Is he only doing this to get back in the league or is he doing this to truly help himself?

If you choose to believe that it is a lifestyle choice over a disease that's fine, medical evidence contradicts you, but I am sure you don't care......

What are the odds he has an "altercation" while in rehab? Aside from alcohol he seems to have an attitude problem in general. Wouldn't surprise me to see him get into trouble with another patient or doctor.

Prediction. He will be reinstated and welcomed back by the team.

I won't predict whether he will screw up again. I don't want to forecast the man's downfall.

This is the first step, there are more to be done;

When Adam Jones breaks down emotionally in these sessions, if that does happen, realizing what he has maybe thrown away, a good football career, letting his family and daughter down, letting Jerry Jones down, and the Cowboys players and fans, then that is the next step.

I am pulling for him to take those steps, I have been there and gone through similar things. I have learned dont judge people or you might be judged back sometime. Best thing is to pray for the guy that he can get his life back on track, but he has to see how alcohol and anger has almost destroyed his life.

That going out partying, having to be with the crowd at night, showing off, just isnt worth it. We all have demons we have to face in our lives, our weaknesses that we all have. No one person is perfect. Once Adam comes to this conclussion, gets the bitterness, anger, hurt, out, he can move on, face his demons and conquer them with help, and Gods help.

Next step is for Adam to find something to replace the emptyiness he has inside himself that needs to feed the want to go out party, celebrate, and show off. Whether that is spirituality, religiion, a good woman, a hobbie that takes up his time at night, when he wants to carouse, then that is the next step.

Then, he must make a public apology to the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, the fans, and his family, relazing that not only this has hurt and disappointed those people, but hurt himself, then that is the next step.

Then you go from there what God allows back into his life, and move on to whatever is available. Just my thoughts.

Oh yeah, as far as Tank Johnson goes, I care about him too and want the best for him, but if tank meant when he said if fans knew what i have done, after i got here, etc, then if tank has been going out with adam doing these things, then thats being an enabler to adam to get into trouble. Tank should look at that, and revalue his thoughts and actions.

Its like an ex pro football player said on nfl life, some guys love all of the attention, girls, money, cars, etc, but not too much about what it takes to win or being a champion. When your thoughts are on partying, showing yourself out in publilc, just having a good time at other peoples expenses, while your other teammates are working hard, getting rest when they need too, while your out partying, have a fun time doing things you know you shouldnt, then you should look at yourself inside and think what your priorties and values are towards championship or having a good time.

I dont know Hostile about him being back with the Cowboys after what Wade Phillips said and Jerry Jones.

Now if he gets help and really means it in rehab, shows real remourse for his actions, i mean by that breaking down in the rehab, realizing, that drinking and anger issues are doing him in, while hurting people that he loves, then that is the step in the right direction.

Adam needs to find someone to take the place of wanting to carouse, go out party and drink etc. Once he does that, finds something to replace those urges, then I think the Cowboys might relook at him, but he has to do a complete 190 degree turnaround.

Then, he has to get back into shape, football shape. So, lets look at that, he cant come back till after Nov 16th, then you have to add in about 2 weeks for adam to get back into football shape. That puts him in around december if then, if commissioner sees a big huge change in Adam.

Then, by then remember Newman will be back, Jenkins, and Scandrick should be rounding into shape, along with Ball, Brown, Watkins, so not sure, if their might be an opening for Adam.

Only time will tell, but unless Adam shows a big huge remorseful action, do you think Goodell would realy let him back into the league? Thats the big issue now, its on Goodell, and remember after Adam cleared the time of a years suspension, it took what 3 more months before Goodell said he could practice with the Cowboys?

Then, you have to take into account, that Goodell would enforce possibly draft picks, and money to Adam Jones if he comes back to the Cowboys if he is reinstated, and he gets into trouble again.

The Cowboys just got a 5th rounder back from Tennessee, next step would be if Adam got into trouble with Cowboys, would be a even higher draft pick and I dont think jerry jones wants to go there.

Only thing i see that might change this, adam breaks down at some point, and you see the real tears, etc, and he really honestly asks for help and a chance then the commissioner and jerry might do it,but only then.

The fact that he went is step one that he's at least at this point seeming to acknowledge that he's got an issue that he really needs to get fixed.

I applaud that in him. I will pull for him to do this program correctly, get the treatement he needs, and stay out of trouble. If he gets one more shot from Roger, and thus Jerry, and plays again in a month I won't have an issue with it.
