NFL Network's Adam Schefter cautions that Jason Garrett remains a legit candidate to be the next head coach of the Rams.

Leslie Frazier was seen as the clear front-runner earlier in the week, but Schefter says Garrett emerged as a favorite Thursday night. Frazier or Steve Spagnuolo or eve Jim Fassell may still end up with the job, but it seems there's no clear favorite in St. Louis.

There is no CLEAR favorite. Which means it will be fluctuating between coaches.

Please please please let him stay. Even though the Rams job would be a good one to take. He would have a few weapons to work with.

Maybe it is Frazier after all.

CAPERS HITS PACKERS’ RADAR

Posted by Mike Florio on January 16, 2009, 12:46 p.m. EST
With Mike Nolan and Gregg Williams taking defensive coordinator positions with other teams after being identified as finalists for the same job in Green Bay, another name is being added to the Packers’ list.
According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Pats special assistant/secondary Dom Capers is interviewing for the defensive coordinator job on Mike McCarthy’s staff.
Capers, 58, has spent the last 23 years in the NFL, working as among other things the first head coach of both the Panthers and the Texans, and the defensive coordinator of the Steelers, Jaguars, and Dolphins.
Another former Steelers defensive coordinator, and two-time former head coach, remains in the running as well — Jim Haslett.
Then there’s Eagles secondary coach Sean McDermott. He still might get the job, if Philly loses on Sunday at Arizona.

Just think, if it wasnt for that baby Brian Stewart, we could have had Capers here in Dallas.

If there was one person on this entire team I would want fired, it would be Brian Stewart.

Why does Brian Stewart still have a job? If you are so bad at your duties that the head coach has to step in and take your play calling responsibilities away, what is Stewart doing? Fetching Wade hot cocoa on the sidelines?

Brian Stewart is a thief... Plain & simple... He should feel guilty for that highway robbery he pulled on Jerry this year.

If he is a thief, Wade Phillips is an accessory.

Nobody had to listen to him being insecure about Capers. That makes me think Phillips went to bat for him and probably resisted the move with both him and Gregg Williams.

It is irrelevant anyways. There is no reason why Phillips should have accepted Capers as his defensive coordinator. He should have the right to pick his own staff if he is the head coach. They are an extension of him.

I don't even care anymore, hire him or don't hire him. He obviously doesn't want to be here if he's taking interviews, but if he doesn't get it, he knows he can fall back into a cushy 3mil a year job. If he stays, fine. If he goes, fine.

He would be a complete imbecile to turn down interviews after rejecting two offers the previous year. That would tell many decision makers he is content and has no ambition. I do not fault him a bit for interviewing and I do not think it really even tells a story about how he feels about being in Dallas. Im sure he wants to be a head coach and he cannot sit around and keep his fingers crossed. Payton did not do it. Neither should Garrett. We all saw what happened when Zimmer's window slammed shut.

Great.

Some of you guys will get your wish.

We'll lose a young, up-and-coming coach (TWO Top-10 offenses in two years, but admittedly is still learning) and will be left with a 35 year old, past-his-prime WR.

Then in one or two years, we'll cut said WR and will be looking for a young, up-and-coming coach and be wondering how we can get our hands on a Singletary, Harbaugh, Tomlin, Garrett-type coach.

Some people can't see the forest for the trees.

You make it sound like it is an option. What are we supposed to do? Pay him another 3 million to stay?
