Adjustments for Garrett?

Got any?

One thing I would like to see is shorter throws. It decreases the odds of multiple free rushers for Romo to avoid. He can handle just about any one rusher, but when 2 got through the offense was ugly.

Id love to see quick, easy throws to Bennet, Felix, and Choice especially. Get them the ball early w/ high percentage throws. Bootlegs, flares, and crossing routes.

I think doing this will make heavy blitzes a non factor and maybe welcomed.

I can see the offense being insanely efficient this way. W/ many drives reminiscent of the long one Vs. NJ in the playoffs.

I say keep doing what we did against the Raiders on that second drive. I did have a problem with Garrett calling shotgun plays from the 3 yard line that lead to the oversnap. He again called a shotgun on a 3rd and 2 with McGee that lead to a throw-away. You know, just run the damn ball.

I hate going shotgun several plays in a row. It seems to lead to poor protection by the tackles

I just like the mindset of - hey we are going to run it down your throat on short yardage. Don’t over think it. Other than those two plays, i thought Garrett called a very balanced game.

OP,

Completely agree. The lack of short and mid-range completions really stuck out last year. It felt like every pass play's first few reads were deep, and the only short balls were late in Romo's progressions.

more plays for each different formation we run last year i thought we had a good number of formations but seemed to run onlya few plays outta each formation

He needs to relax with all the draw plays.. last season it seemed like we ran more draw plays than anyone else I watched all year long.

Also, screen plays to Felix are a must. I was shocked when we tried it ONCE last season when Felix was healthy.

When their safeties are playing 20 yards off the LOS and we're averaging 8+ yards per carry, don't call a post route.

TYIA.

consistenly running the ball on short yardage situations opens up the play action in clutch time when you need a score in the 4th quarter.

rgr that

Garrett is running a Vertical passing game similar to the one that won 3 SB.

Remember Garrett's biggest influence is still Norv Turner (not Fassel and other guys). His roots are Norv who links to Erine Zampese which links back to Air (Don) Coryell.

It is not the exact offense but you can seem with the deep routes and vertical style that he employees comes from his years as a Cowboy and the heavy Norv Influence.

I was looking forward to a 2 TE set down by goalline, maybe he's saving that for the regular season.

Maybe he was seeing what his young QB and wr would do in that situation like a 2 minute time frame no time outs and you have to throw type situation.

It is preseason and not the regular season sometimes you call a play to see how a certain player reacts it is not like we are keeping another rb over Barber, choice or felix

Maybe you need to go back to those 3 games Romo missed.

As I recall, there was outrage over the fact there was nothing down field.

Awesome game.

Imagine how good it will be when they get creative w/ Felix and Bennet

Still want shorter throws. Get Bennet and Felix the ball in space.

Hurds like 9th on the weapons list, that play should have been Miles anyway....

-Liked the play w/ all 3 RB's in the backfield at once. Lot of options there.

Get a better rhythm early. Our first drives always suck
