Adoree Jackson just got released

Agreed but it will all come down to Jones and the O line. Even if they fix the O line I’m not sure Jones is anything more than a career back up. He’s shown flashes but his decision making and pocket awareness is questionable at best. This year will tell us a lot about whether we’ll have to worry about them for a few years or not.

Most of those players are on 3 year contracts so if Jones isn’t the answer then their seemingly good roster is going to have to somehow carry the load to be competitive and without an above average QB that seems tough to do in todays league.

*they still have no edge rusher thankfully and there isn’t one in this draft worth taking with their pick, I assume they’ll go Slater if he’s there.

Jones looked fine to me. He was playing with very little around him the last year and half since he took over. He has the size and the tools. I imagine he has a great season this year.

I remember the eli manning is a backup at best talk after they got shut out in the playoffs vs carolina in 05 also. I also remember it being said about Romo many times, specifically after the 08 season finale at philadelphia.

Jones has excellent weapons around him now. I imagine they will draft one if not two lineman and get better up front. They have a good head coach and an excellent defensive coordinator imo. Their hard nose style of football they played on defense last year will carry over and they will get better.

Fixed since we had our 3 best olineman out at parts with our starting center out too.

They had a piss poor oline and let the highest rated one go. It's always been their issue as of late. Don't care how many weapons if you can't protect.
They were just as injured as us. They upgraded their team in the offseason and STILL have the draft.

I know what you mean, I think Giants fans are split on him 50/50 right now from what I’ve heard and read. Like you, some blame his lack of success based on the O line and WR’s which is definitely a legitimate excuse but like me, others who have watched him play thinks he has questionable pocket awareness, decision making, and a habit of staring down one receiver too long when others were wide open.

This year will be very telling. And yes, I believe Eli struggled mightily his first two years and once they got Burress in his third year he really took off as did the team. I hope the same doesn’t happen with Golladay, because he is a similar receiver and they ended up winning the Super Bowl a couple years later.

Honest question. Who missed significant time there outside of Barkley??

Solder sucks. Tate sucked

Their wr core was all injured. They went through a number of RB's because the top two were injured.

The Giants were limited due to years of mis management and terrible coaching.

That appears to have been corrected. Andrew Thomas was the left tackle last year and was a rookie. I imagine he gets better. Solder did not play in 2020, he opted out.

The giants seem to be a in a good spot at tackle going into the season.

Defense is scary good. Still not worried about Engram, Golladay, Jones or Garrett though

Well now they have four good wr in Golladay, Slayton, Shephard and Ross. They have two good tight ends in Engram and Rudolph and have two good rb in Booker and Barkley. They get back solder to pair with thomas at tackle.

on defense they added a thumper to the lb core and another good corner to go with bradberry.

That Giants team that coughlin built won on the basis of playing old school hard nose football. They were excellent up front and ran the ball well allowing the passing game to play off it.

Signing plaxico in 05 was huge for them.

I remember Giants fans burning manning's jersey in the parking lot in november of 07 after the loss to the vikings so i do not really care what giants fans think honestly.

Eh, I’m always interested in what other fans in our division think. It doesn’t change anything but I find it entertaining and informative, no different than I care what our fans think. I usually check out our division rivals message boards after a big move and once or twice a week.

The Giants have now signed

LB Reggie Ragland
DE Ifeadi Odenigbo
WR John Ross
WR Kenny Golladay
TE Kyle Rudolph
RB Devontae Booker
QB Mike Glennon
Re-signed DT Leonard Williams
Re-Signed DT Austin Johnson

They have picks 11, 42, 76, 116, 196, 201

For the third time since Dallas has won not only a super bowl but a road playoff game the giants appear to have a team on the right track. They out coached and outplayed Dallas in both games last year with a much lesser roster. They lost the first game because of two penalties that cost them 14 points.

The giants have a better head coach and defensive coordinator. Now they have talent to match the rest of the division for the first time in years. This is like 05-07 when Coughlin was settling in to his second year and they signed a number of free agents who ended up being key members of their championship team in 07.

The Marketing/Land Development/ Fracking company out in frisco I am sure is doing everything they can to win.
APPEAR is funny word isnt it..get over it paper means nothing..these posts saying all the teams are ahead and far better then the DC just because of who they signed, is flat insane..gets old really we will settle this on the field and im confident we are better, period..

39 mil for a (depth guy) huh? :muttley:
but yeas the rest of the east proclaimed to be better by our own fans before rosters are set and before a game is played..SOFT fans here are getting on my nerves,,

mods allowing these posts i mean this guy being released is not Cowboys news, really stretch he got signed by the NY Knats and being hailed as great also not cowboys news..

that right, im calling out the soft fans become fans of our rivals its why we have soft players on spot teams , look around at cancel cultures and society shifts.. if yo arent blues remove yourself from here, soft fans be GONE!!

the constant drooling over what our rivals are doing and ripping and being down on our own team is tiresome!!

I know they didn’t have Dak last year but the Giants didn’t have Jackson either. Gallup has had ONE good game against the Giants out of 6 and the others have been mostly below average to bad. Cooper has been hit or miss.

Regardless, last year they got Bradberry and Logan Ryan who shut both of them down. Add Jackson, who has had the 4th best coverage rate of all CB’s since 2018, and the Giants will suddenly have the best secondary in the division and one of the best in the league.

So yes, if everyone is healthy, I wouldn’t bet a dime on Gallup or Cooper “destroying” them when they couldn’t even have a single good game against the Giants without him.
So true, and it doesnt take long when your adding the right players that actually contribute and then succeed.
Giants are fast tracking to being the best team in this division which doesn't really speak to much,,, lol
It just seemed to be such an achievable task for any team in the NFC East the past few years,,, just marginally improve and you can at least win the division, maybe entertain a wild card.
Its like wasting the first contract with Dak, just throwing away those years you are supposed to be cashing in on the value of Daks rookie contract,, same thing.
So now we will witness probably the entire NFC East taking a baby step forward, all together at the exact same time.
Which baby wins the race... baby that grows up quicker.

Nobody overrates NFCE talent like Cowboys fans. This is an average WR corps. Ross is bad. Engram can't catch. Rudolph can't run. Booker is your standard #2 rb. They don't have a QB and they can't block.

Slayton missed one game, Shepard missed 4, Engram missed 0 lol. They couldn't run the ball even with Saquon.

They weren't injured they just suck.

:lmao2: Lol, love the baby analogy!

I hope they do give Barkley a 2nd contract. I know the cap is going up but % wise, if they get him on something closer to what Henry got then I would still laugh but if he got anything more than that, especially zeke type % I would thank the football gods and fall out of my chair laughing. Very few GM’s are dumb enough to draft a RB in the top 10 overall, let alone top 5. Even less GM’s are dumb enough to set new salary records for extending a RB. Only one GM is dumb enough to extend that RB with two years left on his contract. Unfortunately, even their GM isn’t THAT dumb, only Jerry gets that honor.
I know you don't like Zeke, but he played well on his rookie deal, Barkley has had 1 good season out of 3.

Unfortunately I think they’ve had two good FA years in a row but their GM’s drafting has been atrocious. You’re 100% correct on Nelson, that guy probably already has a old jacket hanging in his closet, he’s that good. I love watching him play which is unusual for me since he’s an O lineman.
It makes little sense to draft a running back at 2, but a bad OL.

I know you don't like Zeke, but he played well on his rookie deal, Barkley has had 1 good season out of 3.
He also had a top 5-10 O line his entire rookie deal. Barkley played behind an arguably worse O line his rookie year than what zeke played behind this year and he was incredible. The following year he was playing on a high ankle sprain most of the season behind another atrocious line and he missed 3 games IIRC. Last year he was injured.

Yes, zeke is a better blocker by far but he’s also not only had a great O line most of his career but other offensive weapons that had to be accounted for. If Barkley had the same scenario zeke did, I think he would have blown zeke’s numbers away.

Great, zeke allegedly gets those “dirty yards” which is a myth, I’ve posted several articles with stats to back it up. Point being, if Barkley had the room to run that zeke has had, he would be taking it to the house every other play whereas zeke is getting dragged down from behind by d linemen and looking for someone to run into so he can go down, get off the field and get a breather.

As always, zeke gets the O line excuse last year for the first time in his career but that same excuse was never acceptable for Barkley even when his numbers were better than zekes.

It makes little sense to draft a running back at 2, but a bad OL.
Let me rephrase that for you (no offense). “It makes NO sense to draft a running back at 2”.

I love watching Barkley and other dynamic backs run (ie zeke his rookie year) but I LOVED it when they drafted Barkley, I laughed and laughed and laughed. I can only hope they’re dumb enough to give him a ridiculous contract.

On a side note, unlike the ewok, Barkley seems like a stand up dude, I feel bad for him. Too bad the Jets didn’t draft zeke instead of Darnold, I would have loved to see how “generational” he really is behind a bad to slightly below average O line. If last year was any indication, he would have been a ghost years ago. Too bad.

Unfortunately, Jerry and a lot of fans got duped into thinking zeke was truly “generational” and didn’t need a top O line to be above average to great.

How dare you. You might be banned. And at the very least hafta do a timeout in the corner.

Outstanding post by the way, lol.

You laughed with me,, we laugh because the team we support made the same mistake.
Bad build model I have always preached that you do not take a RB ever in the top 5, top 10.. you just dont do it, probably not ever in the first round period if I was calling the shots.
