Adrian Peterson Resisting Arrest

Someone care to explain to me how this is even possible?

Don't they need to arrest you first for you to resist arrest?

:laugh1:

every time I see an NFL player has been arrested . I cross my fingers until I see it was not a Cowboy. Been a good off season in that way

The source said the incident was captured on one or more surveillance cameras inside the club.
I wonder how long it'll be before this hits YouTube.

Hopefully soon, i wanna see you can resist arrest before you get arrested which is what had to have happened if all he was arrested for was resisting arrest like the reports say

Technically, in America if the Police detain you, at that moment you are under arrest until such time as they let you go. If you try to leave, before they give you permission to go, you are in fact resisting arrest.

In fact, one form of resisting arrest is to give an officer a fake ID or fake name and have them discover it is not you.

My theory based on what has come out so far is he was told to leave the club/restaurant, at which point he became beligerent, including possibly assaulting an officer, at which point that qualifies as resisting arrest.

It's really simple, if you don't want to be arressted, stay away from nightclubs.

You do realize that Dallas has had few players in trouble with the law over the last several years?

There are two reports.

Officers version: Club was closing, Officers were having the people file out, and see AP at the bar. They tell him its time to go. AP doesn't listen, they tell him again its time to leave, he tells the cop "We heard you the first time" and then pushes one of the cops. When the cop stumbles backwards the other two cops grab AP, who then resists arrest.

Source inside the club at the time says:
AP is at the bar trying to get a bottle of water as the cops are filing people out. Cops tell him its time to leave and he starts to walk out. As AP approaches the door one of the cops runs and jumps on his back, the other two cops grab AP at this time, and AP resists arrest.

So the two stories have a few similarities, but one makes AP look like he wasn't cooperating, the other seems like the cops were way out of line.

But they say there is surveillance so it shouldn't be hard to figure out which account is true.

"The manager of the bar told TMZ that Peterson was very drunk and a difficult customer all night."

Obviously the NFL police were after him for trying to escape....since, in Peterson's own words, "playing in the NFL is just like slavery"....

You can be arrested for resisting arrest for just about any reason the cop feels like. If you asks you to not move and you do then you resisting arrest. If they ask you to stay in your car and you get out then you could charged with resisting arrest.

I could add something to this statement, but it would create a ****-storm and add 10 more pages to this thread.

Do it! :)

Glad it wasn't a Cowboy.

But when I heard this I didn't think it sounded much like AP. The dude does not seem like the kind of guy to go looking for trouble.

Then I read the details in the paper today and can see how this could have escalated. He should have kept his head better but I suspect his solid track record will help his cause if the there's NFL punishment.

When someone acts out of character like this you wonder if something happened in their life to trigger it--you know, maybe a rehad setback, a breakup, etc.
Oh well, if this is me or you it is a non-story....a pat on the wrist and we are n our merry way since there were not injuries. But this is national news. They have to know they're famous and to be cool, espcially when in public.

Now this:
Adrian Peterson hires Roger Clemens’ attorney
Posted by Michael David Smith on July 9, 2012, 11:52 AM EDT

That’s an awfully expensive hired gun for Peterson, considering that he’s charged with nothing more than a misdemeanor that the Houston Police Department says will likely be resolved by paying a small fine. But Peterson — who didn’t seem overly concerned this weekend, smiling while his mug shot was taken and writing on Twitter that the truth would set him free — can certainly afford to pay for whatever attorney he thinks will give him the best defense available.

Good move, or does hiring such a high profile attorney — one who defended a guy (RC) most believed to be guilty of what he'd been accused of — make Adrian look even more guilty in the public eye?

Hopefully, the truth prevails.

Every county is different but if he is found guilty then it is more than just a fine. It goes on his record and he could have to deal with community service and or a parole officer. If the charges are bogus in his opinion then he should fight them.
