I don’t think I’ve ever even started more than 5 threads on this site in all the years I’ve been a member but idk maybe I’m wrong.

Anyway, I’m about to turn 31 years old and I’m starting to wonder if this is worth it. Every year the same old heartbreak.

Y’all go through this same letdown as me every year. However, maybe I need some perspective because at this point in my life, it has drastically changed and I’m starting to wonder if this is even worth it anymore.

I hate letting things I can’t control affect me this much.

I admire the young fans here.
I have been a fan for 47 years, so I have seen the glory years, and have a sense of loyalty.
Why do the young fans stick around here for this circus Jerry runs out every year?
Entertaining sure.
Post season success?
Forget about it.

The last game I let get to me was the 94/95 loss to the 49's. I was 31.

My wife just came through and had to ask me who won. Would have been the same had we won.

It's entertainment. Reality TV. Take it for what it is.
I just recently got married and my wife asked if I was okay. Just kinda had a moment where I had to put things in perspective. This may not be worth it anymore for me. Or maybe it’s just the heat of the moment and I’ll be listening to the radio show once the draft comes around.

Regardless, one thing is for sure… I’m progressively getting less and less invested.

There's a reason liquor stores were never closed during the height of COVID lockdowns. Just get drunk and forget about it. Next year, be prepared for the same thing
This seems like the sad reality. I just wish I was alive to at least relive the “glory days” as I do now with the San Antonio Spurs.

I just need to live through one good season and the letdowns would be so much easier. But alas here we are. I’m sure I’ll be posting on this site during the draft or even before lol

One of the reasons I stick around as a Cowboys fan is this place and my friends here.
I agree. It’s weird how I feel like I know people on here that I’ve never even met before. But we’re bonded by the same passion for the same team by players who couldn’t care less about us all.

??? Impossible as in it would be impossible to go for another team…
I'm lost!!!!!(Not a rare thing)

What were you saying impossible for? I don't remember mentioning rooting for a different team.

You had said something along the lines of “stick with your team no matter what…don’t witch teams…” so I replied that it would be “impossible” for me to witch teams even if I tried.

I’m no glory hunter. All my time as a fan has been nothing but let downs. Im never switching teams. I would simply care less.

Gotcha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, sometimes it pays off. I've been an Astros fan since the late 60's.

Hey, that's it, tell Jerry to bang some trashcans, that's the answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You dont have to stop being a fan or stop rooting for the team, but just keep things in perspective.

This is just a game, nothing more, the sun will rise tomorrow and life will continue as it has for the last 30 years since our last SB. And who knows, it might be another 30 years from now before we ever see a SB again or it might be never. The Cubs went 103 years without winning a championship so it is very possible that nobody on this board will still be alive the next time the Cowboys win a SB.

So, just take it for what it is, entertainment. Tune in for the draft, watch some preseason games, and root for the team when the real games start, but dont plan your entire life around a professional sports team and let their success or failure affect your emotional state.

At the end of the day just ask yourself why is it so important to you that the Cowboys win. What difference will it make in your life if the Cowboys win or lose? If the Cowboys would have beat the 49ers, what in your life would be different tommorow? Odds are nothing would be different unless you are a gambler, but that is a monetary issue and not an emotional issue which you are describing.

So, if nothing in your life would be different, why are you emotionally upset the Cowboys lost?
