Clayton vs Green

Ummm. Which is better? I can't decide just yet.

Well in 2008 the NFC East was better. both had 3 playoff teams.....but the Champs came from the NFC East.

Glad you brought it up because I listened to almost that entire show yesterday.

In "Four Downs" they were talking about us, and Green was once again emphasizing that he thought a big problem for us in the playoff game last year was all the coaching changes going on. Everyone knew that Sparano was headed to Miami at that point and that he was taking some of our coaches with him. And that hurt everyone's focus.

I've heard Green say this several times over the last few months on The Huddle, and it almost sounds like he has some inside info.

And even if he doesn't, it makes sense IMO. I've always thought that it couldn't have helped everyone knowing that Garrett was interviewing and Sparano was definitely out along with several other coaches on our staff. Hard to have that family atmosphere with everyone pulling together for a common goal when several coaches already have one foot out the door.

I respect their right to do it, but it is pretty unacceptable and shows a lack of focus - perceived or otherwise - on their part. It's not like those coaching issues caused TO to not be able to move effectively or Crayton to contract temporary Alzheimers (is it airborne?) but like you said - it couldn't have helped.

I wish Wade would have made a big effort to dissuade them from doing it. Maybe he did, but that doesn't seem like his thing. I hope we don't have to go through the same song and dance with Garrett this year, as he tries to put pressure on the Joneses to pull the trigger on his HC career.

Great point. It was very unsettling with all that stuff going on as the players had to be wondering if their coaches were leaving 3 seconds after the game if they lost.

As SP said, I wish Wade would take more of a 'I'm in charge role and people better start understanding it or else' approach to this team. It's all good to respect your assistants and treat them well, but it's also good to let them know they have a boss when it's appropriate.

Jerry is the only real boss on this team now. I would like him to somehow back off a little this year once the season begins. Will that happen? Probably not, but I think it would give Wade a little more 'presence' when he is addressing the team.
