well maybe if the dude would pick a freaking weightclass and stay there.:laugh2: but he hasn't fought anybody imo to deserve a shot at Fedor.

Name a HW that actually does deserve a shot at him?
It's no like he's jumping weight class taking a loss then trying another weight class, he's winning what ever weight he's fighting at right now.

If he beats Sobral and he should then they can easily hype that 13 fight win streak to sell PPV fight with Fedor

Doesn't surprise me. Barnett was stripped of his UFC Champion status because of a positive test.

There was a lot of shenanigans going on around that first test. He was tested prior to the Couture fight yet they let him fight anyway. Then after the fight when it was clear he wasn't coming back to the UFC the story broke about the positive test and he was stripped of his title but they never did a 2nd test which is what they're supposed to do with all positive tests.

Yeah, but how do you fake a false positive test. Did the UFC really have that much pull to get a fake positive test??

The test he failed was 4 months before the Couture fight and they let him fight anyways. Obviously something was going on.

Yeah. What was going on was that he failed a test and they let it slide when they shouldn't have.

Which begs the question, if he had lost the fight would the results ever have been made public?

Also he was tested by an independent doctor after that whole mess and that test came up negative

Obviously in light of recent events it's pretty safe to say he's probably been roiding all along but that don't make all the shenanigans around the fist time any less suspect

F Barnett! he messed up a whole event and most likely just killed that company as far as them putting on shows.

You guys should youtube the Fedor v Aoki exhibition match. Pretty entertaining. Aoki tries a flying arm bar on Fedor.

I've seen it, it's pretty funny Fedor could have thrown him trough the bottom of the ring if he wanted to

Fedor is a good sport though. I lol'd at the fake movie punches he started throwing when they both hit the mat.

week of misfortune turned to disaster for Affliction Entertainment on Friday, as the promotion canceled Affliction “Trilogy,” which had been scheduled for Aug. 1 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

SI.com reported the news Friday morning, and Sherdog.com has confirmed it.

The cancellation -- which could spell the end of Affliction's year-long run as a mixed martial arts promotion -- comes on the heels of heavyweight Josh Barnett's failed drug test, which forced him out of the “Trilogy” main event against Fedor Emelianenko on Wednesday. Barnett, 32, tested positive for a banned anabolic steroid and was denied licensure by the California State Athletic Commission.

Promoters scrambled to find a replacement opponent for Emelianenko and reportedly considered middleweight Vitor Belfort, light heavyweight prospect Muhammed Lawal and heavyweights Brett Rogers, Paul Buentello, Jeff Monson and Bobby Lashley.

lets all thank Barnett for this

Thanks for ruining not only for your self and Fedor but every other fighter on the card, Affliction as a whole who's pretty much done now and all the fans who's been waiting to see this fight.

Thanks douchebag, your selfish stupidity brought down a whole promotion i hope you're proud

Hopefully Dana will allow him to keep competing in sambo and move a UFC event or 2 to Russia (they already have several a year in Europe so i don't see why this would be a problem). Little things like that is what's keeping them for getting a deal done.

There's no one left for Fedor to fight outside of the UFC now.

Barnett, should never be allowed to fight again
Mousasi, has said that he's moving to HW but doesn't wants to fight Fedor
Overheem?! lol,.. I'm surprised he hasn't been busted roiding yet

From what I understand, part of the reason why UFC is hesitant to get involved with Fedor's management in promoting is because they are in with bed with seedy people. After PRIDE lost it's TV deal in Japan for being in with the wrong people, it's a completely understandable why they wouldn't want to promote with them.

Josh Barnett literally killed this company

Matt Bishop of MMA for Real had Kevin Iole on his Lights Out Radio show and broke the news that Affliction will be returning to the UFC as a sponsor.
Iole has updated his earlier post that reported an Affliction - Strikeforce merger to remove any reference to that and update with this instead:
Later on Friday, Affliction opted to get out of the promoting business and, in a joint statement with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, announced it would become a sponsor of the UFC. The fate of the fighters under contract with Affliction is not known yet.
Here's what Iole originally posted only hours ago:
Affliction itself is fighting simply for survival. Several sources have said that Affliction and Strikeforce will have some type of merger with Strikeforce retaining its name. Affliction’s Tom Atencio denied any merger is imminent, and Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker is in Italy on vacation and couldn’t be reached for comment.
However, two independent sources told Yahoo! Sports a deal is either completed or on the verge of completion.
White said an Affliction attorney flew to Las Vegas only days after UFC 100 and offered to fold and turn its contracts over to the UFC if the UFC would remove its ban on its fighters wearing Affliction T-shirts.
"I told him, ‘I hope you idiots stay in business,’ " White said. "We had a record year in 2007. We had a record year in 2008. And we’re going to have an even bigger record year in 2009. I said, ‘I hope you … stay around in 2010 and burn every dollar you have.’ What they do is of no concern to me."
This is a major major news shakeup. Only hours ago it appeared that Scott Coker and Strikeforce were on the verge of dramtically solidifying their position as the undisputed #2 MMA promotion in the U.S. and now it appears that the UFC is further ahead than ever. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker picked the wrong week to go to Italy on vacation.
Iole is also teasing hard that Dana White will make a major announcement on ESPN radio 1100 Las Vegas tonight at 9pm EDT. Speculation is heavy that that announcement might relate to yesterday's Bloody Elbow exclusive news of ESPN officials attending UFC 100.
UPDATE Commentary by Michael Rome:
Fans have already started speculating as to what this will mean for the fighters under contract to Affliction. Make no mistake, this is a bad day for fighters that had an alternative promotion willing to overpay them for their services. One hopes the UFC will back off its draconian ban of any fighter that signed with EA Sports, though it's understandable that they don't want to promote anyone appearing in a rival company's game.
This quote may explain why the earlier Dana White quote was removed. In classic fashion, it looks like the UFC's stance changed in a number of hours. Is there a new deal that came about in the last few hours?
The collapse of Affliction represents a huge shakeup in the MMA industry, and could bring about a number of dream fights. However, any notion that a deal with Fedor Emelianenko is imminent has to be tempered by the reality that the UFC negotiated with his team while he was a free agent for over a year, and never got a deal done
