Congrats to Colt fans who are on this MB and everywhere. But also congratulations to Bears fans here also.

I personally wanted the Bears to wins because they were the NFC representatives. I suspected that Rex (Rex-the-train) would buckle Under the pressure of inexperience at the "Big Show." But I cannot rule out that the inclimate weather played a role in the overall outcome.

Tony Dungy has been with the Colts for 5 years. I'm gald that Tony Dungy lead his team to the Superbowl championship as the 1st AA Coach in the History of the game. But now I hope that the NFL, new-media, and fans can all move on to accepting a coach as a coach, regardless of whether he is the 1st at anything.

European-American, Italian-American, Latino-American ...who the Hell cares, as long as they bring Home the elusive Lombardi Trophy. I noticed that during the game, I didn't think about what nationality/race, origin or any of that ...I just wanted the Bears to kick butt! of course they didn't, but that's another story.

Anyway, I hope the NFL can move forward and Put away the race-colored glasses and see things like performance, and results in this great game of football.

Personally, the colors that interest me the most in the NFL are the Philadelphia Eagles Silver and Green!

I loved Dungy's interview after the game when he said he viewed it as a Christian coach winning the Super Bowl! Both he and the team owner impressed me by giving credit for their success to God.

That is one first class group. Tony Dungy is a role model for everyone. Congrats to them.

Except for the last line, I like the post.

Should call him "Train Rex" instead. Just sounds better to me.

Anyway, the AA angle sucks.

I have always been a proponent of "if they can do the job".

I have worked with all types of people and have a very diverse group of friends. I dont judge anyone immediately. I judge people by their character and/or work ethic.

So we can assume it was the devil at work when Dungy fell short of the Superbowl all those years beforehand.

Once again, I'll take my hat off to you SaT ...mine is a similar philosophy ...treat those how you would want to be treated ...unless proven otherwise.

Oh, you didn't know?

If there's one thing history has taught us, it is that God is terribly concerned with the outcome of sporting events and wars.

Amazingly enough, both sides think He's supporting them. ;)

Personally, I'm not a Colts or a Bears fan in the slightest.

I wanted the Colts to win for a few reasons.

  1. Manning just for the fact that it's a shame for such a great QB to not win a SB. (Marino)
  2. Dungy because he was stripped of his chance in Tampa. He built the team and Gruden slipped in a stole his title. (Just like Barry won with Jimmy's team in 1995 and Joe Torre did with Buck Showalter's Stankees)
  3. Marvin Harrison: Great receiver and class act.

What a simple response to a serious issue. You win ...I'm green with jealousy.

There you go, reaching again.

My response was to the foolish part of your post, not the serious part.

But I think you already knew that, .. everyone else did.

Dungy wasn't stripped of his chance. He made his own bed in Tampa. He went with Shaun King and ran into a very similar situation to the Bears team of this year. The next season, Gruden took over, sat King's terrible butt down, and Brad Johson took the same exact team to a title.

King is out of football and Grossman may be soon too.

I agree with 1 & 3 but not 2.

Having coached myself, I have never really bought into the old "he won with so-and-so's guys" adage.

Gotta give Gruden and Switzer their due, no matter who built the team. When you are the HC from July through Feb., playing 20+ games, ... if you lead the team, you lead the team.

As a matter of fact, inheriting a team that already had talent and has already tasted success without you is really a tough tough job because they may look at you and question you even being there. You have to truly earn that respect necessary to lead.

I think Switzer did a good job, and would have won his first year except we had 3 turnovers in the first half of the first quarter in the NFC title game and the score was 21-0 before we got started. Those 3 TO's weren't his fault and we still almost won the game, except for a blatant no-call against Deion.

So I give coaches like Gruden and Switzer their due as HC's.

EDIT: As far as No. 2 goes, I agreed with the first part about Dungy, I really like the guy. My problem was with the part about Gruden & Switzer.
