-It was always about the plan "when Tyron gets hurt". The same thing was said about Sean Lee. Both were great players, but this league is all about being available. The Tyler Smith era has begun. The expectation is early growing pains, but will become an elite starter late this yr or next. I believe Tyler's play will allow the Cowboys to move on from Tyron next offseason. Perfect world, Jason Peters never plays a snap at LT this season.

-This offseason primary goal was to fix their rushing attack, Wouldn't be so concerned about lack of veteran depth at receiver as I believe we are going to see more 22 personnel this yr. When the Cowboys offense has been elite under Dak, it has been due to balance. Add in Dak/Zeke now being fully healthy, our offense should rebound, depending on how the OL comes together. Huge years for Biaz, Steele and McGovern. Will they earn 2nd contracts?

-Time for Kellen Moore unleash Tony Pollard. He isn't playing special teams any more, don't need to worry about his snap counts. He is a matchup nightmare, get him involved in both the run and the pass. Also, find ways to get Turpin involved in the offense. His skill set is very much like a young DJax.

-Defense starts about stopping the run and getting teams in passing situations. Bohanna reportedly has taken the next step and earned a starting position. Can Osa do the same in year 2 at the 3T? They probably have their best depth inside in a long while.

-This is the deepest DL rotation we have seen in year's. Our pass rush has potential to become elite, IF this defense can win the early downs. I believe we are going to see teams game plan to take Parsons out, which should allow the rest of the players to have big seasons with favorable matchups.

-Our linebacker unit has elite potential as well and could even get stronger as the season progresses. Lve came on late, the addition of Barr and then the two LSU prospects contributing at some point this season. Cox might take a couple weeks to get going, but he offers elite coverage abilities.

-Can Hooker return to form or is his body too broken down? Can Brown have a repeat performance? Will Lewis hold off Bland all season long? Can Diggs take the next step as a cover corner? Think the secondary will be fine, especially with a strong pass rush in front of them.

-I am very skeptical that Maher will be better for the 2nd time. Odds are we are still going to have PK troubles. I can care less about those 50 plus FG's, but care more about the extra points and kicks within makeable ranges.

Is this team a Super Bowl Contender? A lot of things would have to go right, especially the OL. I do believe they are a playoff contender and could be in that mix in the near future.
I have them as a 9-11 win team this season. I think one playoff win is possible, but I dont see a deep run without a strong line. I think the ceiling for the OL this year is adequate.

Good takes. I think we have a playoff team but I am not sure if we can beat a team with a quality coaching staff and quarterback in the playoffs. To me it is up to the offensive line to improve as the season goes on. The defense is at least two deep with average players at every position. We just need a front seven player outside of Parsons to be good and secondary player besides Diggs to be above average for our defense to be elite.
TBH Im less worried about quality QB's in the playoffs than I am quality front 7's. I think our OL could be a problem for us against good teams

Good take. I think it would only be for about 8 games but I would love to see Tyler and Peters together on the left side.

Thanx for sharing ...

- Sorry, but I have very little faith in Kellen when comes to the best design of the RBs, ..and that’s in both vs run and pass.
If he was that kind of any true innovator, he would have already have done so.

- Moore can actually be solid when it comes to the design tree of the WRs and TEs, .but when it comes to the RBs … he can be so bland and simplistic.
And if something does happen to work, ala Pollard jet sweep, .. he’ll just stop

I had such high hopes that McCarthy himself would get involved with the RBs, as his Packer offense indulges in a lot of RB screens, and misdirections in both pass/run
but I can forget that. It’s swim or drown with Kellen.

- The LT situation could actually come down to what happens at LG. If McGovern is horrible as he was when he briefly started in ’21, we’ll be right back to having to pull
Tyler back to LG, .. of course there begs the question if Tyler would’ve been the starter anyway as this OL coach may be the type that rookies need to earn their role

- I get the feeling that management (not McCarthy) could be the ones pushing the return of Gallup back so quickly. Of course the trainers and medical staff have to give the ok call
and how much time limit and how much to push for his return to duty.

- Jerry is calling on coaches (see McCarthy/Kellen) to adjust in-game, in-season, not wait until offseason, .. that’s not Kellen, and is this the year the HC will be allow
to step in and add significant input.

Watching McGovern play last year and this preseason, I think he is better at RG than LG, but with Martin at RG, he has not chance to play there.

Hmmm... i was waiting for you to suggest moving Martin to LG, since it would place the future HOF, right next to the rookie Tyler ... while McGovern is more settled at RG ?

Good points, about Moore with our backs and McGovern at Guard. I have more confidence at guard then Moore finding more ways to use Pollard.

Sink or swim for Steele, McGovern and Biaz. Our OL success will be on their shoulders or we look to replace them moving forward

Would not it be crazy if we lost a game because of a kick,
and that game was the difference between making the playoffs or not ?
The level of talent between us and the Eagles is paper thin... Just saying.
Yes we could lose due to a miss kick. I wouldn’t worry so much about the Eagles. Roster has looked good in the past and they crashed and burned.

I would prefer to see Tyler at LG and Peters at LT.

They could run left all day long behind that power.

The power of Tyler would really help Biadasz.

McGovern's technique issues did look better this preseason but he is just a stopgap at LG.

Larry Allen played a season at LT but his dominance was best utilized inside.

Waletzko was impressive considering his draft status and playing though an injury in the preseason. He was already 315 when drafted and uber athletic. His technique was already better than Ball's technique. He was a bully at the small college level. He looked better in Senior Bowl 1 on 1 drills than Penning vs the same defensive players. Penning was surprisingly raw technique wise.
I think McGovern plays better this yr as he has been taking reps on the left side all off-season. Smith at Guard will be an easier transition but he only moves if he or Conner struggles

I’m not sure why many on here are not concerned about McGovern at Guard. I guess people don’t remember him last season at LG? He was bad. Bad enough to bring back Connor Williams into the lineup penalties and all.
 It's as if the off-season and training camp didn't happen. Did you not see any of that? Tyler Smith was supposed to be competing to take the LG position away from McG. When Tyron went down, Tyler Smith still hadn't clearly claimed the LG position. McG played well enough to keep the LG job and Tyler Smith was moved over to LT. McG has improved! Enough to not worry about him. That's why you haven't seen it from the fans or media.
