Optimistic for what?

That with Dak back we will be competitive unlike last year? Yes. He is a good reg season player.

That we can make a playoff run? No. We have 30 years of proof Jerrys way does not work.

I might begin to become optimistic if someone can name a single position on the team that has improved over the past three seasons.

Fix the offense.

We can win some games.
Both sides of the ball need to be fixed. Our defense looked like complete GARBAGE in several games last year. Even when we’ve led the league in offense our defense got us beat. You can win a lot of games with a great defense.

We lost to that crap Rams team with and without Dorsett. The loss in '76 was bad enough. I'm still mad about '79. There's really not much I can say about our current team.
Fortunately 76 was slightly before my time, but I know the season and game well from research.

79 hurt badly. I wrote a letter to Tom Landry and gave it to my dad to send. I’m not so sure it actually got to him.

You forgot about 83. That stung, and was sort of the end of things being a certain way. 84 was the beginning of the end with some bad drafts to follow. Not sure if that pattern is sounding familiar, but no sweat…there’s free agency now. Fix the team that way. Oh wait…..

Next few years are 1984-1988 then maybe real change.

I feel about the same as last year and the year before that and the year before that.

We’ll be average, maybe above average in the regular season but I’m not hopeful for the playoffs.

The team needs a full rebuild but the chance of that was lost after the 2023 season.

I'm cautiously optimistic..

I find it hard to get too excited about this team these days.

But I'm hoping that without the injuries, it will at least be better than last season.

It's odd how we remember things. I forgot we lost to that crap Rams team in '83. What I remember crystal clear was that our season ended two weeks prior to that. Getting killed in Dallas by Washington broke the Cowboys. Then the following week we get obliterated by the 49ers. I know the game didn't matter, but the Cowboys weren't even trying. Their starters were in there. We lost before the Rams showed up.

IMO the Rams weren't even good that year. We still lost. Had Dallas won that game, they had a rematch with the 49ers. None of it looked good.

Yes and no ( voted yes though )
I feel better now about the direction of the team from this time last season BUT the bar is low, that's not saying much. I do think Jerry and FO have accepted that we are unlikely to compete with the Eagles and Commanders for the division over the next couple of years. No.........IMO we will be lucky to finish above 500.

There is 0 reason to be optimistic prior to the draft.

Right now. The only weapon on offense is CeeDee.

They have no starting RB, the OL lost a hall of famer, and was horrible last season until the end of it, one WR and a TE who has had one very good season.

How anyone can sit there prior to the draft and be optimistic is wild to me.

Dak is still limping on vacation to top all of this off by the way.

Coach is a huge question mark.

They’ve added no one in FA that fills a clear need.

Right now, I think they are the third best team in NFCE and fringe playoff contender.

Some of the guys we drafted in the last two years are going to have to step up big time, and we have to hit on 3-5 on this draft class alone. We havent done much to address CB, easily our biggest need now.
