Now that the draft is over, and taking into all the off season moves.
Coaching changes, Free agency, the draft, and the trades. The releases, the retirements. Do you feel the team is better, same, or worse?

For me...
Coaching changes we slightly better but could be much better if it all works out. By that I mean, Moore can surprise us as the QB coach, he can’t be any worse. Same for LB coach, can’t remeber, is it Bloom?
Same for ST’s coach. I think they deserve their chances.

I think we gained more than we lost as for FA. Including retaining some of our own players. The biggest loss was Hitchens but was expected. And as expected find a guy in the draft.

We released Dez and Scandrick, I think are big losses, others do not. But that is football business side of it.

The draft, did we i,prove from this. Well yes, LVE, Williams, and I can get on board wilth Gallup though I wanted defense there. Will the players selected in rounds 4 to 7 help, how many will make the team, wide open opinions here. I am not sure how all that will play out, and will bed to see in TC. Still wanted D, but will pulle for who they selected becasue they are on the team now

Trades, I lie. The trades, every one has he.ped us or has the potential too.
FB olwalae, RB / Wr Austin, and DT Ward, all help right away.

Overall I think in combination we are a better team, but not by a lot. But enough that if Dak improves on his accuracy, which he should with an OL that will give him time to throw, and aZeke back for sure now, it takes that pressure off somewhat. Then we have improved a lot.

If the defense continues to make strides as it did last year, and the offense can not implode, we'll be a formidable opponent. However, it's consistency that I worry about.

They need to bring in a FS in my opinion.

During the presser they talked about having corners who they could put back there but to me that is stupid.

Jones clearly is not cut out to be a FS and Chido is one of our best corners, leave him where he is.

I think our Oline has improved dramatically and I hope that LVE and another year removed from injury Jaylon will keep us from getting abused when Lee goes out for a stretch.

The Oline and lack of depth behind Lee killed us more than anything last year.

Yeah, we're a better team with the same problem; one injury in one key position, and we fold. We always seem to need every year so we can't add depth.

Problem is with the starters...NOT the depth. I think the quality has been overrated with some of our key starters..case and point,DEZ. Which is why we finally cut him.

I would have been fine with them saying “we like our guys and the draft fell the way it did and we are happy”

Saying that tells me that wanted a guy and just never got a chance to grab one...

If Memory serves me right that Boston kid is still available right?

That is what Stephen said today at the presser. He said they wanted to draft a FS but it didn't work out and they thought better football players were on the board. Like you said that is fine, now go sign a FA like Boston or Vaccarro.

No the team isn’t better today. There’s a lot of unproven pieces. Only huge hole is the 1T IMO.

But there’s enough curiosity to make it very interesting come August.

This is an excellent question. I think we have more depth and are younger.

I think we have improved markedly on the OL. Smith should be healthy. Collins will have another year under his belt at RT. LG was an issue all season, but it should be greatly improved with Williams. Depth is much better with Fleming and Martin.

RB will be better without the distraction of a suspension. Rod Smith had clearly taken the backup position from Morris last season. Austin will be interesting coming out of the backfield.

WR is a mystery. Dez wasn't great last year, but he was respected by DCs. We know what we are getting with Williams and Beasley. If Hurns can stay healty, he is a reliable option. Gallup has the potential to be a stud in the NFL. But he will be a rookie...who knows how good he will be? I think we can be better than last year, but we'll just have to wait until they're out on the field.

QB: The question of whether or not we're better on offense really will be answered by Dak. I love the guy, but he didn't look nearly as good last year as he did in year one. I think he actually played better in 2016 without Dez in the lineup. He HAS to play better. I really like the backup situation better. White is a dude I'm really excited about.

DE: I think we'll be better here. DLaw is one of the top pass rushers in the NFL. Taco began to flash the last few games. Crawford and Ealy are both reliable, solid DEs. Armstrong really excites me here. If Randy is reinstated, then this position has a real chance to finally be a team strength.

DT: I think this is a position that is NOT better than last season. The starters are fine. Collins will hopefully be healthy. Irving is one of the most powerful players at his position. Datone Jones and Jihad Ward might be able to be adequate backups. The 1 tech position really scares me. Outside of Collins, we really have nothing here.

LB: I think this can be one of the more improved areas on the team. The loss of Hitchens hurts, but a healthy Jaylon can really change things. I'm excited to see him at the Sam. Lee is still a stud. Damien Wilson was solid. LVE will be a big improvement in the middle. Depth was added with Thomas.

CB: The strength of the team. I think we will be so much better here. All our rookies will be in their second year. Richard will coach them up!

Safety: Hmm....this position is close to train-wreck status. I really like Woods, but I'm not sure if he's ready yet. Heath does a good job. I don't think fans appreciate him enough. Frazier is another guy that has potential to really be a force....but like Woods, I'm not sure he's ready.

As always there will be an overreact both good and bad. When we get to training camp then the real story begins. Are we better?

Have to look at it based on last year and the year before. The OL is better by far than last year with a healthy Smith, a much better LG in Williams, and a much better swing OT in Fleming. Should see nice holes for Elliott and keep Dak upright instead of running for his life. So from a OL prospective, much better.

On the WR and TE spot it is a mixed bag. With Witten most likely retiring we have the great unknown at TE. Will Gathers step up, will Jarwin be the guy the coaches believe he is and what do we really expect with Schultz. On WR front it is a competition and a lot of it. Hurns and Gallup should provide much easier targets for Dak because both excel at route running and separation. Wilson, Brown and Thompson are the speed guys and expect to see much more of Brown, do believe he could become the star. Beasley will get more chances just because of spreading the ball around more with the RPO. I know some think Austin is in the mix but they will try him at RB and scat back and special plays. Still a lot of questions to answer but right now I would say better than last year, how much is still to be answered.

On the RB front, there is Elliott and if he stays healthy then no problem although Smith is capable but Scarborough will be a guy if he makes the team that we rely to bruise people up. Elliott being on field the full year makes the team much better. And no drama makes us a lot better.

The LB corp is better than last year even with the loss of Hitchens. With almost all teams including RPO type plays having 3 LB that can cover sideline to sideline is important and we have that now with a much better Smith, a healthy Lee, and Vander Esch. The backups are also much better with Thomas, Wilson and probably the kid from Indiana. So much better expectations than last year and could be a lot better than last year.

Seems everyone is worried more about safety than anything else in the secondary but I suspect the Earl Thomas fiasco isn't over so far be for me to doubt but I believe the reason we didn't take a safety is that there is still something happening on the Earl Thomas front. Also Kam Kelly is probably the only UDFA guy I think that makes the team, he is a guy that Richard will take to and could be the sleeper guy. At corner with Awuzie, Lewis, Jones, Brown and probably White gives us the best CB position in 20 years. Actually think Jones moving to CB improves the whole secondary and if we get Thomas then sky is the limit.

Our DE spots seem like the most improvement with Lawrence, an improving Charlton, a healthy Tapper, Ealy, Jones, Crawford and now Armstrong. That is even not counting on Gregory at all but if he comes back then it will be the most difficult of position cuts we have.with 8 guys and probably no more than 5 spots.Believe we have the makings of the best DEs in three decades.

The DTs are another story. Collins is a very good 3 tech and Irving is probably a great 3 tech. The kid we got from Oakland looks like he could be a player especially since he was a 2nd round guy but don't know enough yet and Price and Ash are serviceable but neither is going to set a fire for you at least it doesn't look that way. Right now it is the weakest part of the team but maybe Irving on a full year will change my mind.

So overall better than last year but not sure as good as the year before. Could easily see 10 and 6 but the division is tougher and frankly could see 3 teams in the division with the same record, going to be tough as nails this year.
