After Further Review - We Will Dominate This Game

Getting consistent and constant pressure on Eli is the only way that the Defense can stop him from having a big game. We just don't have the secondary that's able to make plays on the ball and cover WR's tightly enough where the QB has a hard time finding anyone open.

We need to get pressure on him I agree and we need him to force the ball to create turnovers. Last game Lee had a big int that helped us get out to a 2 score lead. We need him and others on this defense to go out and make plays. Again I'm not talking about shutting the Giants down that would be a very tall order but I do think if defense can make some big plays along with our offense we have a good chance of walking out with a win.

Almost left out special teams. I like what I saw with Harris last week, I will say I get a bit leery with a young guy like him making mistakes in the return game. Hopefully this is not an issue and I do hope to see Dez back there in some instances in punt return

Yes I don't expect the D to hold the Giants scoreless on every drive or anything. But I don't want for them to make it easy on Eli and the Giants to move the ball and score.

In the last couple of drives when the D blow a 12 point lead, it was way too easy for the Giants to come back because the D gave up huge plays instead of at least making the Giants dink and dunk down the field and forcing more time off of the clock.

I'm just saying that whether your prediction comes true or not (50/50 chance eh?) will have no bearing on my confidence in your ability to prognosticate. Two closely matched teams. Could be won by either team. And I by the way, predict that it will be. ;)

Nor should it. As I said in my OP, I rarely feel assured enough to make predictions with any confidence. But in certain situations, I think enough of these less obvious, "psychological" factors come into play that make a huge difference in the outcome of a game. Overall, I agree with you -- looking at the talent on both teams and recent level of play would suggest that they are closely matched and that it will be a close game, probably slightly favoring the Giants. However, I think there is a perfect storm brewing and it's going to sink the Giants.

I think you're making the mistake of thinking that these 'factors' exist in a vacuum - for the Cowboys and the Cowboys alone.

The Giants have motivations and 'factors' of their own as well.

I agree, they also have motivation. Primarily, it's win or go home for them too. But I mentioned a number of other factors, both pro-Cowboys and ones that will negatively impact the Giants, that tilt the balance heavily in favor of the Cowboys, IMO.

I don't ask you to believe, I only ask you to remember when my prediction comes true. Again, my prediction is not based on individual match ups, or how group A matches up with group B, etc. If I wanted to, I could bring up something like the fact that Abe Elam, the QB of the defensive backfield, is playing in this game, whereas he wasn't in the first game. This should help significantly in regards to communication and responsibility issues we saw in that game.

But it's not about that. I'm speaking more to the psychology of the moment, why we will overwhelm the Giants because of the reasons I've mentioned. Some of you may scoff at these more abstract factors, but I'm telling you they exist, they tend to be more powerful than the X's and O's of the game, and you will see them in full effect this Sunday night.

I'm not saying a win Sunday night would be impossible for the Cowboys it could happen the Giants aren't anything special but you're talking nonsense if you think they're going to "crush" the Giants. I've seen plenty of fans like you making these bold predictions hoping to look like geniuses only to have them blow up in their face. There isn't anything I've seen this season that tells me this Cowboys team is capable of cruising to an easy win on the road in a do or die game against a team that just beat them 2 weeks ago at home while putting up 500 yards of offense in the process. The Cowboys have only crushed 3 teams all season once at home against a Bills team that was in the middle of a collapse.

The other was at home again against a Rams ream that had yet to win a game. The player the Cowboys used to crush them with has been lost for the season. The other team the Cowboys crushed was a Bucs team that was in the middle of a 7 game losing streak. The Cowboys even allowed them to close the gap some in the second half. The Cowboys are a bad big game team that's lost 6 straight Sunday night games and are 3-4 this season on the road. The Cowboys are not a good cold weather team which partially explains their poor Dec/Jan record over the past few seasons. They have an awful defense that's one of the worst 4th quarter defenses in the league and they'll be matched up against Eli Manning who's been one of the best 4th quarter QB's this season.

If the Cowboys win this game it's going to be a dogfight to the end like most of the games they've been involved in this season because their defense can't hold a lead. Even if the Cowboys have some huge breaks and were to to get up by 14 points the defense won't be able to hang on so the team can extend the lead. The teams LB's have no range to cover and we've seen busted coverages all season in the secondary. In the 4th quarter with games on the line the Cowboys have been defenseless. I don't see all the problems the Cowboys have been having all season magically disappearing in a do or die game on the road in front of a hostile crowd.

Zero chance we lose?

And you know this how?

Sorry, but somebody claiming to know the outcome of a football game before it is even played is just being rediculous.

Ironic.

And what if these abstract factors dont appear and we lose by 2 TDs?

Look, I want the Boyz to win just as much as the next guy, but at some point you have to look at the reality of the situation. Did you know that we have lost 6 games in a row on Sunday Night? Did you know that we have one of the worst prime time records of any team in the league over the last couple of seasons? Couple these facts with Romo having a bad hand and you can see why most people think the Giants will win.

Know this doesnt mean the Cowboys have no chance, it just means that the Cowboys are the underdogs and are going to have to pull an upset to win. They are going to have to play error free football, get some turnovers, limit big plays, stop the run, and pressure Manning.

If they can do this, they will win. If they cant do this, they will lose. Fans watching in Texas a game being played in New York have no control over the outcome. I can say "they are going to win" 1000 times and it will not cause Miles Austin to catch that last pass if you get what I am saying.
