After Our Defense Looked like Wet Toilet Paper Against Rams

A bad game at the worst time. Bad scheme, bad technique, bad discipline, bad coaching. No gap integrity, no adjustments, no intensity. I think the young Cowboys had a tough time matching the Rams preparedness and intensity after beating the Seahawks and perhaps feeling a little full of themselves.
Now this team feeling full of themselves had already happened that very season.
This is Garrett's responsibility to make sure this team doesn't start feeling like fat cats and stay uber-hungry and it appears he does a very piss-poor job of that.
He can motivate when the chips are down, but when they get that winning feeling... stuff goes wrong.
Jaylon, himself, said they started feeling themselves in that one terrible loss late this season.
@Idgit ? Your thoughts on that?

I was thinking DT in terms of pass rush. Woods and Collins look like a solid duo for run defense. But I don't see an impactful pass rushing 3tech, nor a 1tech to collapse the pocket.

I expect it's Crawford and Collins for pass, Collins and Woods for run.

Safety is weak. I don't like Heath at SS, and I don't like Woods at FS. I'd be much happier with Heath as an over the top FS, but he's not getting that chance.

I'll respectfully disagree on that, I'd prefer to see Heath relegated to special teams and backup duty.

What would you say is the main problem not named a coach?

Marinelli played 4-2-5 nickel for most of the game.

Not a formation known for stopping the run.

He’s insane btw and stubborn as a mule for doing that to our team.

I don't think we lost to the Rams by 'feeling ourselves,' if that's basically the question. They can feel themselves all they want if they can take the ball away on defense and get Goff in an occasional 3rd and 8.

When you get a smallish DL like ours moving in the wrong direction at the snap it becomes easy for an OL to keep moving them in that direction. They used all kinds of techniques to keep us guessing which direction the ball was heading and our over-aggressive pursuit was used against us. Our guys were completely unprepared for that type of offense.

It also shows how big of a gap there is in coaching between us and the other playoff teams when it comes to preparation.

Instead of pointing what went wrong in 2 games for the team why don’t you guys focus on what went right on defense. Dallas played 18 games in 2018 and in 16 they were lights out. Maybe you guys need to watch and focus on all 18 instead of just 2

Maybe you should get over yourself and learn some humility.aren't you one of those forum members who always claim the cowboys are fine at defensive tackle? Why not simply admit you were wrong and move on with your life. I watched as the cowboys gave up a 150 yards rushing to the panthers in the season opener. The gave up over a hundred yards rushing again to the Seahawks . they gave up over a hundred yards rushing in back to back games against the Commanders and titans . the cowboys gave up over four yards a carry against the falcons and in their first game against the eagles.Despite your claim, The cowboys defense had more than one or two bad games.

Mmm... Digestible.

What does your apparent hero Methuselah do around here? Other than escape blame?
I agree with you but feel you are wasting your time . There is a large segment of the cowboys fan base who believe that Rod marinelli walks on water.

dallas defense
5th vs the rush
10th vs the pass
5th pts allowed

go on and think this team was abused vs the run. Like i said they had 2 bad games.

Failure to study film and realize Goff's getting calls from the sideline, and call an appropriate defense. Several teams did it in the month of December, and so did NE!

I gave you solid statistics that you you can look up if you want. Go ahead and spew numerical diarrhea if it makes you feel better. You pull the same tactics that homers pulled last season. They ran around yelling about the cowboys eighth ranked rush defense but chose to ignore that Dallas was rankefd sixteenth in yards per carry or that they gave up over a hundred yards rushing in eight out of sixteen games. For the last time , it wasn't just two games. I hope you cleaned to those mean less stats while you watched the rams advance to the Super bowl

Who is this?

AntwanWoods tore his labrum in the second quarter. That doesn’t help when you have zero quality depth at 1T.

Collins should be coming off the bench so he stays healthy. A good 3T would do wonders for this D.

Crawford, Collins, Reid are ok but none are pro bowlers when they play inside. Dominant defenses need that consistent force inside that disrupts everything.
