Jerra, this is what you need. Someone who can not only back up but push Romo on the QB position.

Nothing wrong with a little competition.

Just cause you are keeping that loser the Clown Wade Phillips doesn't mean you have to throw in the towel and not have a decent backup QB. And maybe a decent season if Romo goes down. Or even a new starter if he's as good as he was last year. . . .

Byron Leftwich.

If he can't find a starting job.

Cassel is going to Kansas City to be with Pioli, I believe. As the starting QB.

They were talking on NESN the other nite, saying that NE would take KC's 2nd pick because it's very high in the round and then they wouldn't have to pay 1st round money.

Cassell is not better than Romo

Yer right, fella.

But in my prayers I ax for a decent backup. Anybody else but old man Johnson.

except that brady and cassel make up 25% of their cap by themselves....

If true, that is foolhardy by the Pats.

I wonder if cassel would consider wearing the star . . . a chance to lead America's Team for a non-gouging paycheck.

Associated Press:
If the Patriots keep Brady and Cassel, they would have two quarterbacks taking up nearly 25 percent of the team's $123 million salary cap for 2009. Brady's cap charge will be $14.62 million, although his actual salary for the year is $5 million with a $3 million bonus for making the roster.

Romo needs competition to get to the next level.

He is too complacent and too comfortable. Not too concerned about throwing a pick in triple coverage when BJ has his hat on.

Really ??? Cassell ??? We need to go out and get a solid backup, not that Cassell would not be that. There is a small thing called the salary cap. I doubt Cassell is going to take backup money.

True. We do need a Cassel-like player to play backup. And if he emerges as No. 1, I won't lose no sleep or nuthin.

But what is largely forgotten here is that Wade's laid-back approach has encouraged this type of good ol' boy way of doing business. We can bring the talent in, but this sad sack of a coach can't motivate or frighten them.

Still, we need a Cassel.

So this offseason, make AUSTIN AND CASSEL A PRIORITY.
