Im ready for a new head coach. One who recently has been coaching a little to the south east of us...
Anyway,...thats a whole nuther thread thats already been beat to death. Heres my main talking point..... Im MORE than ready to go back to the old tried and true 4-3. Specifically the cover 2. Its stood the test of time over and over again. Nothing fancy, not over complicated for players to learn,...just strap it on and get it done.
I would be all for bringing in a known quantity D.C thats experienced in the Tampa cover 2. We already have one of the main ingredients in Sean Lee. A middle linebacker who can roam the field and drop back to the deep middle in coverage. IMO Lee fits the defense like a glove.
For the record,....I think we already have the defenders already on our roster to run it in our front seven.
Defensive line...
At left end we could go with either Crawford or Hatcher
At Left tackle we could either go with Brent or Hatcher
At right tackle we go with Ratliff
Right end we have Ware of Coarse.
L.b,s would be Spencer,....yes...I believe he has all the skills to do it. If not we have Ernie Sims on hand. Lee in the middle, and Carter as the other outside backer.
I do believe that going forward Spencer, Lee, and Carter would compare fairly favorably to the linebacking trio currently in Chicago .
We have SOME depth at d.t with Spears and Lissemore too. Would need to bring in another pass rushing end though.
Granted,....we need another safety,...but that is a position we need to address no matter what defense we run.
This defense is a whole lot less complicated, you put the defense in a position where they make an offense really have to earn their way downfield with far less explosive plays then we are giving up currently.
