No matter what happens, after tonight we will be on pace for either an undefeated 16-0 season, or a winless 0-16 season.

My point?

It's a long season full ups and downs, and everything in between. One game will not make a season. I'm not saying we can't analyze and assess, but let's try to keep even heads after the game and not fall into the trap of over-reacting. I have a tendency to do that myself at times. We all do. Let's try to keep an even keel.

If we come out and hang 40 on them, let's not act like we're going to the Super Bowl. Yes we all know we have a good offense that can score, but we also have questions on the offensive line that will need to be answered game in and game out. We dropped over 40 on the Eagles in week 2 of 08 and missed the playoffs altogether.

Similarly if our defense comes out and we give up 30, let's not freak out and call for Wade to get fired. We gave up rushing lanes left and right last year in the opener against Tampa Bay, but we finished with the 4th best defense in the league against the run and finally won a playoff game.

While it surely is a "one week at a time" type of league, one game, especially the opener with 15 games after this, will not make a season.

While I agree with the OP 100%, I will say that the matchup of Cowboys v. Commanders has me riled up a bit. My wife is at work right now, but says she wants to come home because she hasn't seen me smile in a long time except when I talked about the Cowboys v. Commanders last night. Pretty funny when your wife wants to spend time with you during the game. Most wimmen I've dated want to go hang with their girlfriends or fam....

In any case, I always like watching the Commanders games. Because, well, we always kick the crap out of them.

That said, I'm not overly confident for this game. I think Washington is the best NFCE team outside of the Cowboys. JMO

While this game certainly isn't the Super Bowl, I think it can be use as some sort of measuring stick versus a squad who has put together a pretty good team.

I can't wait to see McNabb and Galloway as Commanders! This will be joyous.

The Eagles certainly aren't making a case for themselves tho.

The Cowboys or the Commanders will make the first statement of the season. This is a division game, so it's important.

This board does have a tendency to go into panic mode after losses, myself included. I understand the ups after a win and the downs after a loss. What bugs me is those posters who nitpick every negative they can find after a victory. I should be used to it by now, but a win is a win and we should all celebrate each of them because they are precious.

I can see where your coming from and what your saying, but i think these first three games are crucial. I've gone on record and said i don't think we can make a deep playoff run without a 3-0 start. Are schedule is too hard down the road. If we want to play some games at home in January we better go 3-0.
