It is pretty obvious that our main concerns were:

1. Evaluation on players that are in the mix or on the bubble...we got a longer look, good or bad, at several players.

2. Stamina of our starters...most played until late in the 3rd.

3. Adjustments at the half and coming out stronger...we had a stop on D and a TD by the O.

I agree. I have wondered if the corners were deliberately put on the spot a bit last night with our coverage and pass rush. If it was a test, I don't think the corners did very well.

Other than that, we looked a lot like Denver did last week.

Nice analysis (as usual) Z.

The thing that dumbfounds me is the length of time it took for the d-line and linebackers to realize what was happening on those running plays to the right. I mean time after time Spears was getting blown-up... maybe it's just Spears.

I saw two problems:

1. Spears was awful, he was getting pushed 2 or 3 yards down field.

2. Scheme...it seemed that both Bradie and Bobby had the gap outside of Spears, with Spears having the gap between guard and tackle...several times Bradie and Bobby would start upfield, Spears would get knocked into their gap, and the play would come back inside...basically the guy(s) blocking Spears would get the ILB too, without having to block them.

Does someone care to identify a few plays when this happened?

I didn't get to see the game last night, but I watched most of it while Tivo-ing it this morning. I watched quite a bit of Spears (because of what I had read on here yesterday) and didn't see him getting blown off the ball. He got double-teamed quite a bit but seemed to hold his ground. I did see a lot of Bradie James running into the pile while the back ran past him through another hole -- reminiscent of Dat Nguyen early in his career.

I actually had some of the same thoughts. I said it in a thread I started last night. I know last night was supposed to be the closest thing to the real thing, but it didn't seem that way. We all know the team looked a little flat, but I thought it looked like the coaches wanted to see some guys make a play. Unfortunately, those players didn't.
