I felt like we really stunk up the place last night listening to the game. However after watching the game today what I see is an obviously better Dallas team making mistakes, dropping balls, over throwing wide open receivers.

The disappointing part of the game for me was the Defense. It really seems like after the first series or two that we would know they were going to run to the right. Also on the slant for the TD the DB was on the 1 yard line and the receiver was on the 5. The receiver slanted in and the caught the ball on the 2 and the DB didn't hit him until the 1. Momentum then took him into the end zone. I think the new D scheme was working so well that we assumed all was fixed. We ran into a coach that knows this D well and he exploited our weaknesses (like Sean P last year) and it will give us a chance to work on this style of O before we get to the season. I think it was a blessing in disguise.

In general IMHO we didn't look nearly as bad as it sounded. We just kept shooting ourselves in the foot and it is hard to overcome that.

I think D Ware will have a gigantic season this year...

I'm not going to worry about game plans in August...

The defense missed too many tackles last night IMO, that will get cleared up no doubt.

I'll save my 2 cents worth for how it's going in December.

no i dont think we were exploited in the pre-season the cowboys looked flat and coaching wise they looked to be trying things and corners

Exactly. I completely agree with the corners.

As Wade said, he played a variety of CBs, thought each had the opportunity to make a play here and there, and none of them did.

There were several defensive opportunities where we could have blitzed, played various coverages, and we didn't.

Maybe Wade wanted the CBs on an island looking to see if they could make a play? (which of course, they didn't)

I guess what I'm trying to say is that Wade could have better disguised our CB weaknesses by throwing a lot of different looks, etc., but basically stuck with plain vanilla to see if the CBs could hold their own.

Not True. Brad Johnson got the team down the field for the FG. When Romo left we were down 21-13. Look it up.

I wonder is wrong with Reeves and N. Jones. Shouldnt they be able to play somewhat solid for a game or two by now?

I think that's excluding the punt return for a TD.

In other words I think what he was referring to was only offense vs. offense.

You're right. My bad. So, it was essentially a tie game (excluding the two botched special teams plays). Still, not a nightmare scenario.

This is so true. I didn't see the game last nite but watched it today. We didn't play all that bad at all. Sure we have things to work on but I like the way we move the ball and score and our D was very aggressive. James looks like the James of old. We've had a very good preseason and now its time to play ball. I really like how we went straight down the field in the 3rd after getting down 21-6. I wanted to see how we would respond and we did fine. I really like this team and I'm excited to get the real thing started. We are fine!!!

Reeves & Jones have shown they will never be starters in the NFL and the Cowboys know it. That's why we tendered them minimum contracts to retain their services & even then no team tried to sign them. We value Crayton a lot more so we tendered him $1M plus so we'd get a second rounder if another team wanted him.

All we can hope is that Newman comes back and able to play at the same level, or close to it, that he usually does for rest of season. That would take some of the pressure off the CB position this year. All we can do to better that situation is make sure we get good pressure on the QB.

But in 08 we gotta use 2 of our 4 first day picks on CBs. Newman (29) should be could for max 5 more years. Henry (31) is a good physical CB but is slow & often has injury problems. Glenn (35) has a lot of wear on his treads & frankly I hope a young newly drafted CB can beat him out. I can live with us drafting only 1 high quality CB so long as we draft another one in 09.

Oh yeah, thats always the case. It never looks as bad as it sounds, if you are expecting the worst. So when you look at it expecting people to be blown off and really a bad game by Cowboys, you tend to see that it wasn't all that bad.

But truth of the matter is, our D pretty much got whipped. Our O, wasn't really that bad, but Romo was so-and-so. He had off night, which is not comforting, but nothing be really alarmed overly about.

We didn't play that bad really. We did had some offensive mental errors and a few missed tackles on defense that led to some big gains. The pass D was a little suspect, which is to be expected with Newman out. Henry didn't get many throws his way which left Glenn with a mismatch in which he was exploited. I was a little disappointed with Reeves and Thomas, but of which had an opportunity to solidify a roster spot but failed to do so. Ball didn't do much better and giving up that TD didn't help his cause; Brown didn't show much either. Elam made some nice tackles but also looked suspect in coverage. I did like what I saw from Hurd. I think he will make a solid contribution to the offense this season. Burnett and James really impressed me as well. They both seem to be a lot faster than last year, especially James, and were making some big hits. Hopefully Burnett's injury isn't anything that will prohibit his progression.

No it wasn't...we got 16 with Johnson at QB in the 4th quarter, we had our second team in.

after the phantom illegal use of hands penalty wiped out their INT, they would have had the ball on about our ten.
