Our starting wrs may be our strength, but with there age. Could be our weakness in a matter of seconds..ie. Glen is already injured.

Should we be looking to trade for another receiver?

Short answer. NO. Long answer. It could be a factor in a matter of seconds for any team in the NFL, hence depth.

I hope Glenn stays healthy. If our o-line stays healthy and plays like I think it will, Owens, Glenn, Witten, Jones, and Barber will all have monster years. Fasano will be a factor.

Owens has trimmed down quite a bit. He is going to be a monster this year if he doesn't get hurt! Mark it down!

It's called the DRAFT.

The Cowboys were more interested in taking a Kicker, FB, and a QB-wanna-be-WR-PR.

I don't have the patience for excuses on this.

Lots of us were talking about taking a WR in the draft.

Lots of us took heat for it.

And right now it does not matter. Jerry Rice was doing great at 33-34. Tim Brown as well. There are lots of examples of WRs in their 30s doing quite well.

So your problem is that we took a QB-wanna be-WR-PR in round 4; a FB and Kicker in round 6 instead of looking at WR.

So which WR in round 4 did you want us to take instead of Stanback?

Which WR in round 6 did you want to take instead of Anderson and Folk?

I think if some of the younger WR can step up this year they may be able to give the starting WR's a bit of a breather during games by taking a series or 2

I agree. The good receivers were there in rounds 1 and 2, not rounds 4 thru 6 of this draft. I guess some people think a receiver should have been drafted instead of Spencer.

Spencer can have an impact this year and many down the line. A first round receiver likely would not have an impact this year, but would be good for the long term.

I liked a few receivers in the early rounds of the draft. Dallas did not have a shot at most of them and made a good selection with Spencer. Sometimes you just can't address every need in a single draft.

don't bother. he doesn't care who it would have been as long as it would have been the position picked. Nevermind that any of those players probably would have been beaten out by Rector or even Jamel Richardson.

Exactly. This year, Wade and the rest of the staff will get to see if they like what they have in Hurd and Austin. Hurd and Austin, with Owens and Glenn out now, have an opportunity to show the coaching staff what they have in terms of ability and long term potential.

As the season progresses, I think Hurd is the one who is going to be given a chance to secure a long term role with the team. Hopefully, he rises to the occasion.

I think this is the smart route, personally. See what you've got in Hurd/Austin (and to a lesser extent, Stanback) before you go and grab one early in a draft.

We have good #1-#3 WR this year in Owens, Glenn, and Crayton. They'll produce this year. What we lacked for this year, was a pass rush. We needed to fix that first. We can see what we got with Hurd and Austin first before we move to fix that position.

Exactly. I would have liked us to get a CB early on in the draft too, but that didn't happen. Pass rush was the most important thing. Then probably an OL to develop for the eventual replacement of Flozell.
