Good, so lets just stop worrying until they get serious.

Which means we will get a shortened 12 game season instead of the 18 game expansion.

Not trying to point fingers at one side or the other here. But this just amplifies why the NFLPAs stance of "just let us play" was so hollow.

If all they wanted to do was play, they could accept the owner's proposal and do exactly that.

They don't want to just play, that is the point.

The NFLPA director seems Hell bent on dragging it out. I find myself wondering if he isn't engaging in a personal power play.

Smith is a lawyer. He is not going to say anything that means anything outside of the meeting room.
If the mediator did not think he had a shot at it he would have called off the mediation. He has not. So I call BS on Smith.

It's all positioning, although I do think Smith is hurting his case in the court of public opinion. I don't know, maybe he thinks that these public declarations that there is no progress will be taken by the press and public as a sign the owners are being too rigid, but the way it comes across to me is that Smith is the one that is rigid and unwilling to compromise.

Looking at some other reports from people in that room, that is looking like a personal oppinion of that agent not what Smith said or even inferred. He told them supposedly to be PREPARED to last through the WHOLE season. which makes sense to say from the player side. But the fact that he felt he needed to say it again tells me that he is not confident that the players will hold out longer than the owners will.

This whole entire fiasco is personal power plays.

I think for the most part its about money though, but I wonder if with Smith if it's more about power.

Is it wrong that I am strangely interested in that?

I mean money and power go hand in and imo. :laugh2:

I see what you're saying though, and I agree.

I have NO question that this will drag on at least until August.

Too many differences between two parties. Until one side really feel the hurt ($$). This isn't getting resolved quickly.

They do, and I understood what you are saying. I guess what I am getting at is that the owners and the players already know what their role in the NFL is and are just trying to figure out how to divvy up the pot, whereas the NFLPA director may be focused as much or more on carving out his role as a power player as he is in getting a deal worked out as smoothly as possible.

BINGO!!! I really don't like listening to millionaires and billionaires complain about money.
