ESPN SCREWS UP AGAIN...

BEST PART ABOUT THIS...LITTLE eddie LATER CALLED KIRWIN OUT...WHOOPS!!!

You would have thought the Bill Lumbergs who run ESPN’s (*cough*) “news” division would have learned their lesson last summer after repeatedly bungling the 2008 version of the Brett Favre retirement saga.
Not so fast, Berman-breath.

Now comes word that Pat Kirwan, one of the NFL’s top analysts and a confidante of Minnesota coach Brad Childress, vehemently shot down an ESPN report earlier in the week from Ed Werder and Chris Mortensen that the Vikings had given Favre a one-week deadline to decide whether he’ll be the team’s quarterback in 2009.

Kirwan called hooey on the story Monday during his “Movin’ the Chains” show on the Sirius satellite radio network with co-host Tim Ryan.

“I heard you talking about Brett Favre, every show has been talking about him. I’ve got a couple of things to say,” Kirwan said. “First off, let me make sure I’m clear on this to everyone who is listening. There is no deadline for Brett Favre to come in by Friday. There is zero deadline. The story was made up, it’s not true and trust me on that.”

Kirwan, who also serves as a studio analyst for CBS during the season, went on to lay out his own theory on how the situation will play out (Yes, Vikes fans, Favre will be in purple this fall, according to Kirwan).

The bigger issue, once again, is that ESPN continues to expose a gaping credibility hole in their reporting. In their wanderlust to bring viewers/readers something (anything) newsworthy during the dreadfully slow summer months (that’s code for lower ratings and page views), they’ve now resorted to, at best, creative storytelling or, at worst, pure fiction.

Seriously Bristol, isn’t time you just ended the whole “journalism” charade once and for all?

Too bad if it's not true. Brett Favre has to be one of the most annoying stories in sports at this point, like a toothache that JUST WON'T GO AWAY.:(

I stopped reading ESPN articles months ago. If I want fiction there are a million novels out there.

Let'em go after this like a tick on a hound dog.

Maybe it will distract them from all the TO nonsense.
