Here's the week 1 Aikman efficiency ratings I compiled from the official site - I'll continue to update it throughout the season with Cowboys vs next opponents for those interested:
For the complete list...Here is the link: http://www.aikman.com/AikmanEfficie...man-Efficiency-Ratings-2013-as-of-Week-1.aspx
Aikman Efficiency Ratings: Cowboys and Opponents through Week 1:
Cowboys:
Overall Rank: 12
Offense Rank: 20
Defense Rank: 7
Chiefs (Next Opponent):
Overall Rank: 1
Offense Rank: 7
Defense Rank: 1
Last Opponent(s):
Giants:
Overall Rank: 21
Offense Rank: 26
Defense Rank: 13
Quick Notes: Extremely small sample size for the first week. Though the Cowboys Defensive is ranked 30th per NFL Standards, our Defense is 7th in terms of efficiency. The Chiefs have a staggering 119.3 Defensive AER. Though the NFL rankings have the Giants as the 3rd ranked offense, their efficiency is 26th.
Note that these are not a power poll. And, in my opinion, very accurate every year.
If you click the above link you'll see where our remaining opponents are on the list.
Where we were ranked at this time last year:
Cowboys (at this time last season):
Overall Rank: Currently N/A (Rankings weren't posted after week 1 of 2012)
Offense Rank: Currently N/A (Rankings weren't posted after week 1 of 2012)
Defense Rank: Currently N/A (Rankings weren't posted after week 1 of 2012)
For those wondering how the rankings are based:
The Aikman statistics are yards per rush and yards per pass; third-down conversions; total first downs; adjusted points (total scoring minus points from returns and safeties); red-zone performance; and turnovers. They are, in essence, flip-flopped to generate the defensive A.E.R.'s.
Adjusted Points (20%) -- Total Points Scored or Allowed minus Points on Returns and Safeties
Turnovers (20%)
Red Zone Efficiency (20%) -- Measured by Percent of Possible Points (see below)
Yards Per Play -- divided into Yards Per Rush (10% of total) and Yards Per Pass Play (10% of total). Yards Per Pass Play includes yards on plays involving sacks.
First Down Achievement -- divided into Total First Downs (10% of total) and 3rd Down Conversion Percentage (10% of total)
Percentage of Possible Points in the Red Zone is figured by taking the number of Red Zone Chances times 7, then dividing it by the number of Points Actually Scored (defined as TDs times 7 plus FGs times 3).
The above explanations are from these links I dug up. Though older articles they remain valid:
