Ouch.

Pretty horrible defensive number.

That's what happens when you give up 450 yards. :bang2:

For a team that is supposed to have a great defense, we sure didn't show it last week.

Anybody else getting concerned or upset that in Wade's 3rd season as HC, we continue to have defensive concerns starting as early as the opening game?

I was concerned prior to his first season and am pissed I have had to continue enduring whatever it is he's doing while perfectly capable head coaches wait for an opening to shoot the gap...

Its only one game, they didnt play anything like that in preseason, nor did they ever look that bad last yr either.

If its continues for 3 or 4 games I'll get concerned.

Definitely wasnt what I expected to see however.

I think Wade falls in love with blitzing and those wrong guesses on the run-blitzes really hurt.

And then Brady James had one of his worst games in recent memory.

Aik_NFL_Team _______AER

04 _3T _Cowboys (n) 100.3
31 _28 _Cowboys (n) 045.8

23 _12 _Giants __(n) 063.6
20 _12 _Giants __(n) 072.3

In this instance, I must admit slightly preferring the NFL's ratings over Aikman's.

I notice that the Bucs had a better offensive ranking and a better defensive ranking than the Cowboys.

Why do I still remember your bid for naming the cowboys stadium years ago. Winicki's Snow Cone and Football Emporium. That was flippin' hilarious.:lmao2:

At some point I'm going to do correlation studies and see if his rankings are actually more predictive than NFL. I'm sure they are, but as you point, they create some very odd results sometimes.

Saw that too. Pretty strange when you lose by basically three touchdowns.

If you look at the rankings for the Giants & Commanders, the same thing happened. The Commanders are rated higher in both categories than the Giants, yet the Giants won.

The X factor in these ratings could be special teams.

I haven't looked at the Troy's rating system in a while, but he could very well be figuring in the quality of the opposition into the rankings. For example which is more surprising the amount of points/yards the Cowboys scored/gained or the Bucs?

Obviously the Buc's.

And that would explain the higher offensive rating.

FWIW, I do expect our D to make adjustments and start playing much better as they did toward the end of last year. But that game last week was simply brutal.

That's not too difficult since the NFL rankings are solely based on total yardage, which frankly means next to nothing.

Also, any statistical rankings are useless until after at least 6 games when you begin to have a decent baseline.

Is there a way to factor in trading yards and points for time? I'll trade 80 yards and 7 points for 5 minutes if I have 20 points and eight minutes.

Well he rated our defense terribly...so that would hurt the Bucs' offensive rating.
