Aikman weekly spot on WFAN NY

Not a ton about Dallas this week. A lot of quick points around the league.

Stressed the importance today of having a guy like Sproles, Danny Woodhead, Welker. That is a 3rd option in the middle of the field.

Picked the Eagles to be the last standing in the NFC and he is really impressed with what Chip Kelly has done.

Thinks the Saints will still make playoffs even though they are starting 0-2. The reason most 0-2 teams don't make the playoffs is because they are just bad teams. That's not the case with the Saints.

Both NFC wild cards will likely come out of the West.

Only comment on the Cowboys:

"The Cowboys last week reminded me of the teams that I played on. They had a 100 yard runner, a 100 yard receiver and the defense played well".

Maybe Sproles should slow down, let them catch up...:D

They haven't done enough because Sproles been around for what 10 years or so. Yeah, they need some more skins on the wall, hopefully if they can do even half of what Sproles did / does, it will be good.

I usually try to make a thread on this right after, but didn't this time, work thing issue...LOL
Aikman on his weekly appearance on The Ticket said this week. Can't remember it all. but he still really likes Cowboys offense. Thinks Romo still just needs some time to get going. Said quite a few good things on the offense, but we all discussed all that too already.

Defense playing better than anyone expected, but still need time too to gel. Wasn't going to be as bad as expected, but no one knew until the SF game. They didn't play great, but better than people thought. Titans game much better, but Rams would have been decent test but not without Bradford now. Saints game will be a real test.

Overall he was upbeat, but with caution too. His usual style on there.

Can't remember if Aikman said it, or someone else. But siad Marinelli, no matter where he has been as a DC. Taken quite a few rag tag type players, and got good production out of them. Still getting this Dallas defense together.

I respect troy , but he tries so hard not be be Cowboys bias that he will take a flier on anything that has legs and could be considered legit.

not saying he's wrong here, just typical. Ervin. don't give a ****...if it's his Cowboys he will take a hit if need be...It's all at most educated guessing anyway. Kinda like a weather man. Things change snap to snap.

if Sproles went down one snap and McCoy on the next...then what?

I can't say the eagles are a good team after watching the game this week. The Colts were handling them, then they score suddenly, and then the refs take points away from the driving colts and give the eagles a free 15 yards on what should have been third and long.
