He said something interesting in that even when he was playing the coaches couldn't discipline as far as playing time on Sunday....all that they could really do is fine....

To me, this perfectly explains why MBIII only received a fine and nothing more....JG only has the authority to issue set fines.

We all remember the stories of Jimmy cutting someone for falling asleep, but they were always nobodies for the most part which makes sense.

You never bench players that give you the best chance to win. That's the thing...proven vets get a little bit of a break, but the scrubs get told to hit the street.

Jimmy was a great coach but he just liked to cut scrubs and embarass JAGs to make an example of them.

If Emmitt wanted to prop his feet up on the plane ride home, Jimmy would make the guy beside him move - then cut him for not moving fast enough.

Pearlman's book has some really good Jimmy stories, that was one of my favorite reads regarding the Cowboys everyone should pick it up.

Barber did NOT start Sunday - is that the message that was sent by JG? No, we aren't going to hurt our chances to win by benching a player who can help us win, but we will send you a message that the team is more important than a player, and we send it by letting you watch the first play from the sidelines...

I cannot believe you guys are still going on about Barber. Please .. move on .. the Cowboys have. If this was Dez Bryant, Felix Jones, etc. none of you would be saying a word. It's time to move on. The Cowboys won, Barber violated a rule, he got fined and quotes from him yesterday showed he admits he screwed up and that it will not happen again. He also stated he is very happy with Garrett as the head coach. So, for the sake of everyone .. including that of your own .. get over it and move on ..

Aikmans point was that its NOT up to the coach as far as discipline....his words not mine....however, I would be all for sitting a guy to make the other guys realize that the punishment CAN be more sever than just a little fine....especially for a team captain in MBIII where we have other RBs who are just as good if not better.

Barber has provided nothing in the running game.

Benching him gives Dallas a better chance to win.

Geez, the question was brought up to Aikman and he responded to it....I posted about it because he said that this was how It was done even when he was playing.....MBIII isn't even the main point of the post....it just made sense to me on what happened with MBIII....it seems that I made that clear

Big deal.

If Barber wants to show up not dressed in a suit the rest of the year then that is fine. Just hold him accountable to the set punishment.

Not starting and getting fined.

This was NOT a MBIII rant thread....geez, read previou post....touchy.....

I'm not sure if you heard that in the right context, because I've watched games where coaches have not played a player as a disciplinary/punitive measure and it was known.

This is more about HOW things are done at VR....there have been questions here about "Can JG do this?" "Can JG do that?"

Aikman pretty much explained it was the point. Which is WHY the MBIII situation MAKES sense.

Rant...pfft.

LOL.

Too Funny....

Don't bench a player that can help Dallas win.

They wouldn't of. They should of benched Barber..

LOL....Ill admit to a rant trying to explain that its just the way its done at VR....

In fact, its more of a defense of JG than anything else.

Done....
