Anybody hear Aikman's thoughts about the Thanksgiving Day Game?

He said it is unfair that Detriot and Dallas get to stay home the game before the Thanksgiving Day Game. Claims it is unfair to the Thanksgiving Day opponent to have to travel on a short week but the Cowboys/Detriot have not had to travel in 2 weeks.

He said the game prior to the Thanksgiving Day Game should always be an away game.

Well, I'm pretty sure Troy didn't complain when he was playing for the Cowboys.

I wouldn't have an issue with it. I care about the actual Thanksgiving day game being a home game.

He might be right but that doesn't mean I think he should have said anything. Don't recall he was specifically asked that question so why was there a need to address it. He didn't stand up on his soap box while he was a player and say anything about it. He's got the right to say just about anything he wants but I don't have to like it.

BTW: I'm a big Aikman fan so I certainly don't expect him to "love" us during any of the games he is calling. But sure didn't like above comment nor do I like him continually mentioning that Garrett will be gone after this season. Now if he states that Garrett specifically has said this that would be different. I think next time he makes that statement he should be called by the interviewer and specifically asked if Garrett has told Aikman he will leave after this season. I understand Aikman loves Garrett and also Norv but he's got blinders on how well either can do the HC job. He's sure wrong about Norv as a H/C. Thank God Jerry ignores him.

I think because he felt as a player in Dallas that it was an advantage to the Cowboys.

I find the Aikman criticisms pretty comical...Not sure what fans should expect from former players, to be homers in the booth?...A big reason why I can't stand Herbstreit and his blatant bias for OSU, as well, despite being considered one of the 'premier' analysts in the college game.

It's an advantage, of course, to play at home before the Turkey game....But, then again, 28 other teams don't have to play on a short week either, like the Boys do every season.

This was why the other owners did not want the game to begin with. Tex was smart he agreed to take it as long as it was our game every season which started the tradition. Now everyone wants it and calls it unfair. :laugh2:

It may not be fair to have a home game immediately prior to hosting a Thanksgiving game.

But if you are going to institute a rule, you'd need to institute it for all Thursday games (not just Thanksgiving).

Another scheduling issue - playing a road game the Sunday after being the Monday night road team. I believe that's happened a time or two to the Cowboys in recent years ....

My thought was why say anything about it at that point during the middle of a tightly contested rivalry game? It made no sense as the subject wasn't being discussed. It just seemed like he wanted to get his Cowboy non- homerism point in for the week. :)

Troy did state it he felt it was an advantage when he played so do not leave that out just because you do not agree with it.

Definitely...I can't believe that Dallas hasn't been the victim of some poor scheduling in the past anymore than recognizing that there is an advantage to playing home before the Turkey game...I just figure it evens out in the end.

I don't see why so many people have a problem with him saying that. It's probably true, we don't have to travel during the short week and the Jets do.

Of course as a player he's not going to complain that his team gets an unfair advantage. How is that relevant to him saying it as an announcer?

Let's put it this way. As a player if he saw one of his O-lineman holding on every play but it wasn't being called, he wouldn't go tell the ref about it. But as an announcer if he saw that he might say something.

They were talking about it as they were discussing the upcoming game they were going to cover with GB and Det. He also threw in Det as getting the home game prior to the TG day game.

I agree with Troy. It is an advantage to be at home the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I had no problems with him saying it or when he said it.

Did you hear about the scheduling quirk between the Bills and Patriots? This is the fourth year in a row that the Patriots came off of their bye week and then faced the Bills. That should not happen.
