Driving through the Dominion this afternoon made me wonder about Troy's lifetime earnings. You think he has earned more from the checks he got from playing, or have his endorsements and TV deal with Fox made him more?

How long has he been working for FOX? 5 or 6 years? No way he's making close to what he earned as a football player. In 2000 he made nearly 6 mill...

I don't think he's made as much off TV, yet.

I think his last contract with the Cowboys came to about $50 million.

I have doubts, Fox has paid him that much over the years.

Aikman had a $50 million contract with the Cowboys in December 1993, making him the highest-paid player in pro football history at the time.

Before that, he had earned a couple million dollars, too, so this means that in order for him to have earned more from FOX, he'd have to be paid about $5 million a year by FOX, which I don't think is the case.

However, he could stay on at FOX for several or many more years to come, which would add up to more than he earned in his pro days.

I can't remember the guys name but it's one of the announcers on a network that recently got divorced. (in the past two years) He was making 7 mil a year. So, I'd just take a guess that Troy is making around 5 mil give or take a few bucks. Plus his other stuff. Looks like his football income is still ahead at this point.

I was thinking probably his endorsements and TV are ahead by now. He's the number 1 guy for Fox. He's in the booth every single week including the playoffs and the Super Bowl this year. I'd be surprised if he's doing any less than $8 million a season.

I'll now return you to the regularly scheduled rehash of the lockout.

I think Fox is using Joe Buck to keep Aikman's salary down.

Aikman knows by now that you're only as good as your weakest link.

i always thought that troy earned more money today then he ever did as a player.

Had to mention, I thought the thread title was Aikman's Earrings. I was like WHAT? When did he get them? Horrible decision, LOL. Sorry, carry on. Getting old. Eyes getting worse.

You are off a little. He joined FOX in 2001. He became part of the #1 crew in 2002. It is amazing how quickly the years go by. It does seem as if he has only been announcing 5 or 6 years, but has been 10 years now.

I still don't think his TV earnings have equaled his NFL earnings. His outside investments have probably done well.

I would say his Fox salary and other businesses he has built up through the years. He was one of the smart guys with his money, I think he got good advice from Staubach and invested a good chunk of his money during his playing days.
