AKWASI THREAD!!!

While it was far from great, AOA played a solid game last night.

Main thing I have been wanting to see is no blown assignments and while we cannot know for certain what his exact responsibilities are, there were no blown coverages over on the weakside and you could see him with good coverage on the guys he was covering.

One thing that shined through is his range. It is great to see a FS that can make plays on balls in the air on the outside. For all of his lack on instincts he seems to make plays on the ball a good amount. He just needs to not get plastered on the way there.

You can really see just how fast he is on the Webb scramble over the strong side and up the sideline. Webb was off to the races and you can see AOA charging from the weakside, take a good angle and just outpace everyone to cutoff Webb's path. I invite people to watch that run because AOA was the fastest guy on the field and it wasn't even close.

No returns but the runs the other returners were a step down from the work that Akwasi did.

All in all its a step in the right direction.

I'm pretty sure he blew the tackle on their long kickoff return.

In fact, I just watched it again, and I'm positive it was him.

Always liked him....

Hope he turns out to be something in the future....

His development will be a little slower than others, but I think he can be a consistent contributor on this football team.

AOA missed the tackle on the kickoff return. he was right there but whiffed. he is not as physical as measurables would make you think.

I like him too. Hope to see more of him on the field this season.

well there is hope for him when before now there was very little as regards FS. But to think he will really contribute much this year is laughable.

Thanks for dashing my hopes Debbie.

So one missed tackle = not physical?

Stop the presses...DeMarcus Ware isn't physical, guys. He missed a tackle last night.

No, try the fact he managed to get himself demolished backwards, heels over head, again.

He did make a nice PBU on the sideline.

did i say it was b/c of that ONE SINGLE PLAY? where did i make that proclamation? i'll wait for an answer....

He is developing nicely considering he missed so much time because of injury last season and the lockout shorten present season. He is going to be a player and last night he flashed his potential. As he learns more, he will be able to play faster and faster. He has God given gifts and we are fortunate to have a good developing prospect at a position that use to be our Achilles Heel.

edit: Shakes head at the level of football ignorance in this thread.

Right now his athletic ability makes him a good STer and backup. I think he would get confused if teams started targeting him. He's a good guy to have at the bottom of the roster though. If he can figure things out this season, maybe next season he can get a shot at FS.

AOA has as much if not more potential than anyone else in our secondary. But potential just means you havent done it yet. Hopefully we give him another season to put it together.

....and we'll see you drift off into silence on the issue if he ends up cut.

I'll say this. The Cowboys really need to stop taking moonshots on these small school players with relatively high draft choices (4th and above). It reeks of cuteness. The funny thing is they may actually have something with Arkin, but the Jason Williamses, the Jason Hatchers and probably the AOAs just haven't been worth it.

I think he'll be playing his last game as a Cowboy on Thursday.

I hate to give up on this guy after one injury compromised year, and at a position where we have definite need. But when you look at the roster I do think we'll have a hard time retaining him.

This years roster cut down is strange. We don't have definitive depth in the secondary but we have a number of players we'd like to see more of before cutting them loose. Thomas, McCann, Church, McCray, M.Butler, etc. I am beginning to wonder if perhaps Ball might get cut simply because though solid he probably has little upside remaining. McCann, Thomas & M.Butler are young & inexperienced but might have more upside than Ball.

Troy is not exactly a football power.
