Al Johnson...Is he that much better than Gurode?

Once again, he shortarms a snap killing a drive. Gurode came in afterwards and seemingly did a good job. I noticed on the first drive to open the 2nd half and Johnson is back in there. It just seems like he too undersized to handle the guy lining across from him that's causing him to short arm the snap.

BYE, Rivera knew he was about to steal money, and his conscience could not handle it, that's why he was trying to give it back.

Rivera is a question- what has happened to him. I think that injury is still bothering him. And maybe, being the kind of guy he is, he is pressing too much now and that is why the penalties.
Johnson just does not have the muscle needed to handle the bigger DL. Simple as that.

If we mis-handle one more snap.....then I am ready for a change.....those fumbles are killing me.....and the team.

Yes, Johnson seems to be getting blown up back from the LOS more then a couple times a game...That is happening every game, & those bad snaps are going to get him a job on the pine...

With our Oline now exposed as not near as good pass blocking, it might be a good time to go full time with Gurode at C, then the running game would also improve.

It seemed like they had more success running after Gurode came in. He made a great play on the swing to Barber that Rivera held on. He looked very natural out there blocking in space.

That's what happens when you blow a 2nd round draft pick on a under-size injury prone center when you already have one.

Johnson didn't short-arm the snap yesterday, the ball slipped out of his hand.

Gurode should be starting, but he makes mental errors with blocking calls. If he gets that straightened out I think he could be starting in the future.

Despite my arguments against Al last week - it seemed that this week he wasn't the problem. Our tackles got worked -- as you might expect with two inexperienced players -- and Rivera had a stupid penalty (and another less stupid one).

The ball came out of Johnson's hand halfway up (watch the replay from the front), and he immediately turned to look for the ball because he knew it never made it to Bledsoe. When a center short-arms a snap, he usually has no idea that the quarterback doesn't have it. And after Johnson got up, he looked at Bledsoe, looked at his hand, then wiped it off.

The wet ball seemed to get Gurode, too, on his wild shotgun snap that almost got by Bledsoe. If not, then that's why the coaches make sure Johnson is in when we need to use the shotgun.

Center now becomes a big issue for next year. Either we get Gurode in there and see if he can handle it, or we get lecharles bentley or another draft pick this time that isnt weak and undersized in the first place. I am almost ready to give up on a guy i once had a solid hope for.
