i used to put OG's and OT's at tightend in goal line on madden..

Just figures you have a better chance with 8 lineman blocking than five lineman and three tightends

If Gurode plays well this year, what do you think the odds are of Al not being back next year?

According to grizz blog, Gurode played well against the Jags and was our best OL followed by Kosier. The other 3 (Colombo, Adams & Riveria were the problem areas). If Gurode continues play well, I'd expect Cowboys to resign him since we finally have the center we've been hoping for. I doubt we'd make serious effort resign Johnson whose probably best suited for another OL scheme. He's also cannot play any other OL position and you know how much Parcells desires versitility in his backups.

Also, for what it's worth, we drafted Whitely (now on IR) in 7th round; He has good size/weight/smarts and can play all 5 OL positions & Parcells did tell him before he got hurt that he was going to play at C & OG. Only problem is we won't know what he can do for us until minicamps/TC in 07 which essentially will be his rookie season. On positive size he got hurt in first week of June so will have plenty of time to rehab & be at full strength to participate in our 07 offseason weight conditioning program.

If Rivera continues to have trouble, what are the odds of Johnson moving over to guard?

He's an extra blocker, but Bill used him in pass protection as well. I'm still charting the game and I'm almost done with the first half, but on Johnson's first play he missed a block that forced Bledsoe to throw the ball out of bounds.

That being said, it appeared that because it was raining, Johnson's hands slipped when he put them on the defender and the defender was able to get past Johnson. Parcells has used an extra OT at the TE spot before. It's not a bad idea.

Yeah, I doubt we make much effort to sign Johnson.

I'm just about done charting the first half and I don't see Grizz's gripes against Colombo (and neither does Parcells). I haven't gotten to Bledsoe's first INT yet (where Grizz blames Colombo for that), but some of the complaints by Grizz against Colombo I don't see. So far I have Colombo down for one bad block on a pass that Bledsoe threw away. There was another passing play that Colombo wasn't great on, but Bledsoe got completely into his 5 step drop and had time to throw but it appeared his first read wasn't open. Colombo didn't stonewall the defender, but Bledsoe certainly had ample time to make a throw.

Flozell had a good first quarter and is starting to taper off in the second quarter. Kosier didn't really do much of anything of note as they didn't run much towards him so far. Rivera has been okay so far, made a nice block on the Julius TD, and Gurode appears to have had an excellent game.

Go back and look at the plays where Al is in as an extra OT, in the first half. He never gets out of his stance on either one of his plays, and Drew has to throw it away. I believe one of the plays is right after JJ's long reception.

This is what stood out to me on the OL. I know Stroud was hurt, but everything I saw from the OL started from the tackles in. I thought Gurode gave us phenomenal center play.

Oh, but obviously since everyone else might have struggled, Gurode must have botched assignments.

I know I saw Gurode bury his man on Jones TD run. The over all play of the line was so so and hopefully they will show improvement

That was EXTREMELY encouraging. It's been a while since I've seen any of our lineman actually block successfully on the second level.

I think we are talking about the same play. Al was lined up off right tackle. He got out of his stance on that play and had his hands on the defenders biceps like a normal O-Lineman would have. Either his hands slipped from the rain on the defenders arms or he just didn't get a push. Drew had to throw it away over Witten's head on the right side.

I didn't see a problem with a late break out of Al's stance, just it was either his hands slipped or he just didn't get a proper punch on the defender.
