Nors said:Played real poor last night
Gotta get Burnett, Fujita, Shanle in there ASAP

31WillHammerU said:Shanle had a bloody nose and a sack. He needs to play more. Fuji was there. He will be seen more. I like Al, but he makes very few plays. Very few. The growing pains began last night. Let's get them out of the way now.
I admit, I wasn't watching very close last night. For some reason, the game just didn't grab my attention the way the san diego game did.31WillHammerU said:If that is the only problem that you saw, then you weren't watching very close.
jay cee said:But I still don't see where Singleton was the problem.
31WillHammerU said:In positions to make plays and didn't. He did make one that stood out. That's it.
I agree with Nors, we need more here. More than Al is giving. Burnett should see alot of plays next week. Shanle was nasty last night. Dude was shoving gause up his nose on national TV and still making plays.
junk said:We, as fans, all seem to think Singleton is doing nothing. I tend to agree, he isn't a good fit in a 3-4. An upgrade would be nice although I continue to think Singleton is somewhat under appreciated and still valuable to the team.
So, my question is, why isn't Shanle given an opportunity to play there? Burnett? Fujita didn't do anything there last night, but maybe that changes as he gains experience.
Ware didn't do much either IMO. For all the hype of how the 3-4 confuses offenses and brings pressure from different places, it doesn't seem to be bringing any pressure to me. The sacks and pass rush mainly came from the four man lines.
Al is a problem? Get him out of there and rely on a defense that emphasizes the team's strengths. Play a 4-3 over/under. Line up Ellis/Ferguson/Glover/Spears. Play Ware as an OLB on the line. Rotate in Canty and Coleman. Nguyen in the middle, Burnett on the other side.
I still don't understand a defense that emphasizes pass rushing LBers when the team's leading pass rusher from the LBer spot is Dat Nguyen who is hardly a pass rushing LB.
31WillHammerU said:Actually, Ware looked good against the run. I think that he wore down against Samuels as far as getting to Brunell is concerened. Fuji is chasing cars right now. It's going to take a few games for him to catch up. Burnett and Shanle should see more snaps. Al is good at what he does. We just need more plays made from this position.
junk said:So, I ask the same question....why aren't Shanle and Burnett getting reps at that spot if Al is so bad? There must be some other hole in their game that prevents BP from putting them out there.
Fujita, I agree he is chasing cars right now. I think I said something similar. I was excited about this trade, but he still needs to show something. A poor defensive team ditched him. The case has been made that he is a better 3-4 fit....well, reports are that KC has been experimenting with some 3-4 looks. Had to have it in the playbook, so why not keep a guy supposedly geared for it? Salary? $656K, I don't think so. I hope my skepticism is unfounded.
All in all though, the OLB play didn't cost this team the game last night and I am still not convinced that this team is running the defense that best utilizes its talents.
31WillHammerU said:I'm not saying that the OLB play cost us anything. Fuji is here because DJ is there. BP stated that they had been trying to get him here for a while. Fuji has the size that Al doesn't have. We had very little depth at this positon.
Last time that I looked, Burnett hasn't been on the field. Shanle had a sack and was disruptive. Al was his steady self. He was nothing spectacular, which is double-edged.
junk said:Shanle had a sack from his nickel LB position, I believe. I don't see him playing the OLB in the 3-4 which is where everyone's concern seems to be. Thats my question....why not give him a shot there?
Burnett got moved as well. He is backing up Ware now. Why not get him reps there? A 6-10 should be able to start second rounders.
I agree, I would like to see more plays out of the 3-4 linebackers. It looks to me like BP has some options there, but isn't trying them. I curious as much as anything. Some of the LB positioning seems odd to me and as a group, I really don't care much for what I have seen of them in 3-4 sets.
As far as Fujita, doesn't the fact that the Chiefs are experimenting with some 3-4 and were still willing to ship him off scare you just a bit? The fact that he was an experienced vet who had some success and cost a little bit of nothing and they still traded him for basically nothing? Maybe Vermeil is a super nice guy and wanted to give Fujita a shot elsewhere, maybe Carl Peterson is a moron, but it raises some flags here.
31WillHammerU said:I think Fujita will be an excellent addition. He just needs to catch up.
