Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips
This isn't exactly breaking news, since Brian Davis has been blogging away since OTAs. But he is officially a full-fledged member of our Cowboys coverage team now.

Brian, who has yet to be assigned a nickname, is moving up to the pros after covering pretty much every school in the Big 12 South. He's a Texas alum, survived chronicling Parcells pal Bob Knight's first few seasons at Texas Tech, covered the Adrian Peterson era at Oklahoma and spent last season making sure Coach Fran got canned at Texas A&M.

Brian replaces Albert "Einstein" Breer, a Massachusetts native who was so scared of Texas summers that he got a gig with the Sporting News and moved back north. We don't have to worry about Brian wilting in the heat. He's a former Forney High offensive tackle.

Please welcome Brian with the same warmth you folks have always shown the other members of our Cowboys crew over the years.

I miss breer already!

I am curious to see how he writes about Dallas from a nation standpoint now. Is he going to be consistent and talk about them like a football team from a football perspective or is he going to become national sports guy and write about jessica simpson and pacman johnson in every article.

Meh, I never liked him, but it was mainly cause he was from boston.

I knew he wouldn't last long. Texas heat is no joke

umm. Mcmahon is joking. he didnt leave from the heat?

you didnt like him cause he was from Boston? iS he even from boston? He is from mass. not sure if boston is where he is from though.

And another note. You must not like any of the Dallas media because all of the good writers and announcers are from out of state.

Brad sham, Babe Laufenberg, Josh Lewin, Eric Nadell, Todd Archer, Ralph strangis, Tom Grieve, chuck cooperstein, jen engle, Newy Scruggs, Dale Hansen, Mike Doocy etc. etc. etc...........

i liked him as well but reading some of the stuff on him he was on a serious fast track(he was on a dinky paper's staff not long ago at all) and do not be surprised if he is over at espn in a year.

i doubt they replace his quality tho.

From the time he came in he set the bar very high for the other writers. He completly blew away all of the local media. He wrote about FOOTBALL when others were writing about TO, Pacman, Tank and Jessica. He brought back true sports reporting.

Amen. I am really going to miss that. I hope the new guy takes the same tack.

Yep.

Breer would actually look actually review the games AND THEN RENDER HIS OPINION as opposed to many of the others who just flap their gums without a hint of information to back them up.
