Your old buddy AROD got that same money 10 years ago?

Pujols got ripped off...

AROD reupped and got $27.5 per year 2nd time around??

A-Rod was only 25 at the time he signed that deal with Texas. Pujols will be 32 when next season starts. The joke is he may be older than his listed age.

At least in the short term, the Angles should be very good.

They would be suicidal if the Rangers still finish ahead of them. :D

Kinda impacts my team as well. Yanks had a hard time beating the Angels before today. Do not see how this helps us at all. Also, there are now two viable teams in the West, which makes Wild Card possibilities not a slam dunk for an AL East team. Angels' starting pitching is better than ours, although we have an edge in the bullpen.

Exactly right.

The Yankees, Boston, Tampa... This affects all three.

Both the Rangers and the Yanks finished at least 10 games ahead of the Angles last year.

I know the Rangers have an outstanding lineup returning and good talent coming up, and some very good young pitching that is still developing.

The Yankees always have talent.

I don't think either should fear the Angels, though it should be interesting.

You never know. At this time last year everyone was talking about the Red Sox being improved and the Yankees and Rays were weakened. Boston still finished behind both teams.

My friend who is a Cardinals fan said he would be more upset if the Cardinals signed him to that kind of money, than actually losing him. Good point.

As for Wilson, its hard for us to lose him, but then again they over payed him. Hard seeing him go to a rival.

Prince Fielder will be the ultimate beneficiary. He'll scoop up whatever Pujols turned down.

The difference is that you could look at the players Boston was allowing to leave combined with the players they were receiving and some of us weren't that excited about the so-called net gain Boston was going to realize... Which of course they didn't. I don't think anyone could have forseen how bad Carl Crawford was going to be.

I think it's safe to say that Albert will not have a "Carl Crawford" type of season.

Damn talk about overpaying. St. Louis was smart not to match that.

They couldn't, and it's not overpaying for Anaheim. If St. Louis signed Pujols for that much with the rest of their offensive payroll, they could kiss the hopes of having a bullpen goodbye.

He is a great hitter, but no players is worth that much money.

Hmm. Does this mean Wilson is out in Anaheim? If so, I guess he is going to Miami since they offered him six years and the Rangers refuse too. Bet he hates that.

Goodbye St Louis. You're hating it. :laugh2:

Barry Zito....worth every penny.

He's worth it. He immediately upgrades defense and hitting, and if his defense starts to fall off (if he takes care of his body, it likely won't, especially at 1B) he can just make the move to DH and tee off on the AL West.

Great deal.

It's reported the Miami Marlins were willing to go up to $300M to get Pujols, but he wanted to win and extend his career by moving to the AL. Albert's a smart guy. He'll love Anaheim too, it's beautiful there.

She's actually getting back together with Reggie Bush, but a funny joke nonetheless :)

For all the flak she gets, I think she always wanted to be with him anyway but he wasn't all about her reality/celeb lifestyle. Maybe she'll dial it back a bit now.

I'm damn happy Tom Hicks is gone. The Yankees were absolute fools for resigning A-Roid for that money. He isn't worth it.

Agreed.
Now we just keep him around to break the all time HR *Record as a Yankee.

Dude didnt need steroids and now its gonna tarnish his accomplishments.

Thank goodness for Jeter. A real true, Yankee leader...champion.

Obviously, he was a lot younger.

Its still a sheetload of money for any player.

50 million more, but isnt the cost of living excruciatingly higher in LA as opposed to StL?

BTW, I hate this move more than StL does.......I hate Pujols more than any other player and he is tormenting me and the rest of my fellow Astros fans. We finally get away from him by moving to the American League (a move I hate to say the least), but now Pujols follows and will be in our division. We cannot get this dreaded Albatross off our neck.

I hate you Bud Selig for not letting us close the roof in the WS, for making us play in Milwaukee against the Cubs during Hurricane Rita, and now for moving us to the American League, when it should be taking your Milwaukee Bucks back where they belong. Baseball would be so much better without you in it.

I hate you Pujols for signing with the Angels, instead of the Cards or Marlins. Just leave the Astros be already.

Thank goodness, I don't care as much about baseball as I used to or else I would really have some strong feelings and emotions on the subject.
