Aldon Smith Arrested at LAX For Indicating He Had A Bomb

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that airport police detained Smith after he indicated he had a bomb while in the security line. Schefter also shared video of the incident while the airport police have released the following report, via the Sacramento Bee, about the incident.


“At approximately 1400 hrs, a 25-year-old male resident of San Jose, California, was going through Terminal 1 screening and was randomly selected for a secondary screening. The suspect then became belligerent and uncooperative with the process and with the TSA agent, making a comment indicating that he was in possession of a bomb before proceeding towards the gate area. Los Angeles Airport Police made contact with him at the gate and he was positively identified as the person in question. Once again the male subject became uncooperative and he was detained and taken into custody by Airport Police and is currently being transported to LAPD for booking.”

-Just speculation, but my guess is after the initial "random" screening, he got really upset after being asked to do an additional "random" screening and probably starting accusing the TSA Agents of being racist or something along those lines.

The guy is an idiot no doubt, but my experience has been that too many TSA employees are just as bad. Idiots and then idiot cops or persons in authority is always a bad combo.

I travel quite a bit for work and will admit that I've met my fair share of poor TSA agents, but would never be stupid enough to tell one of them that I had a bomb on me just to tee them off. That's common sense of the highest level which Smith lacks.

Don't blame the Niners for this; Smith is just a world-class moron (or has an undisclosed mental disorder) and I don't think it's out of the question that the 49ers would consider cutting him if they have legal wiggle room in their contract with him.

I have no doubt there are crappy TSA agents. Every line of work has the crappy people. They're in a crappy situation as well because they're immediately the bad guy and people immediately hate them because they have to do their jobs too.

This is why RKG is kinda relevant. Otherwise you end up with Aldon Smiths or Shawn Merrimans on your team. Regardless of skill, you just can't count on them. You have to do your research, and some folks who can play in the NFL still shouldn't be on your radar.
