Aldon Smith interview

Badelle needs to reinstate both Gregory and Irving. Needs to stop playing favorites or being a hypocrite.
Where is this coming from?

gregory has been suspended four times, been reinstated three so far

Why do you think he won’t get a fifth chance to play?

The CBA changes are likely the only reason we can look forward to having him on the team.

I like Gregory, I’m an advocate for his reinstatement and I think weed is a BS reason for the league to suspend anyone, but the league hasn’t shown any kind of agenda against Gregory in particular. The man just couldn’t pass his tests

Straight up, I'm in on pulling for Aldon Smith...and with his current size (290), I think he has the makings for a great 3-5 years. He knows the speed and strength needed, and next to our two new defensive tackles, he may be a complete defensive end now. I know with the two tackles and Lawrence, he should fit in as both a regular and strong piece as well.

I don't feel that he is afraid to commit to the work, now...and still is young enough as a man, to weather the journey and still grow.

As to Gregory, he would be a very strong rotational piece, with his own dynamics as well. Throw in Crawford and Gregory in support roles, and offensive coordinators and lines will continually be guessing in preparation and on the carpet...trying to adapt to potentials and scheme adjustments on any given play.

Good stuff here, and with talent that could warrant a vulnerable aspect to opponents...turnovers and punts!

Where is this coming from? Open your eyes. If Badelle and the league office have stated they will no longer suspend players for testing positive for marijuana, why is Badelle waiting on meeting with both Gregory and Irving..., and why hasn't he reinstated them yet? Gregory and Irving announced several weeks ago they were filing for reinstatement, so why is there no noise about what's happening to their reinstatement applications? Why is it taking so long?

Would be an incredible redemption story if he picks up where he left off and keeps his nose clean.

Okay, he my new pet cat. I'll be rooting for him big time.

Props to Jay Glazer for helping him and giving him a platform to tell his story.

I like him. Maybe he had a big drinking problem, but he just doesn't strike me as a bad guy. I liked hearing the word "grateful". And asked about why he thinks he deserves to come back to the nfl, he shot down "deserved", and talked about the opportunity to help others.

Maybe because none of us know the timeline or what has to happen in the meantime?

What’s the rush? Is this just to satisfy some fan craving for information because we’re in quarantine?

There are no OTA’s, no training camp, no meeting with the team.

Accelerating reinstatement for suspended players is likely a very low priority and reasonably so.

Besides, we have no idea what’s actually going on. The planet doesn’t revolve around fans curiosity.

I've seen how amazing AA and the AA concepts can be for some people. It goes beyond just the booze issue. It's a support group and sounding board for emotional issues that's more effective for many people than just counselling. There seems to be a point for people that have had success recovering from being addicted to booze when something just snaps in their mind in a positive way. The #1 issue with alcoholics is apparently denial.

I just wish there had been a similar support group for fans like me that became addicted to winning Super Bowls and then had to deal with 20+ years of withdrawal symptoms.

How does a guy his size fit under a car? I wouldn't fit under a car and I'm 5-11, 200. Maybe it had big rims...

Or it was a truck?

If he has his life in order and can help, great.

My expectations though are pretty low.

He had a TERRIBLE drinking problem...……...not sure if drugs were also involved.

Just got to hope during the season he doesn't get tempted/his teammates don't take him places where he can cave into alcohol again.

I don't think he'll have any problems with a recurrence of the booze/behavioral issues. Having success on the field is another issue. A 4 year layoff is a long long time in Pro Football. Players that have returned after 1 or 2 years off have often described it as much more difficult than anticipated. He'll be 31 near the beginning of this season.

On the plus side, he does not need to be the elite player that he was at one time. He just needs to be better than the 4th best DE on the Cowboys roster which has not been a high bar most years.
