• Undrafted rookie free agent LB Alex Albright (Boston College) was constantly in the backfield. Twice he would have sacked QB Stephen McGee after breaking through the line of scrimmage. He also stopped RB Frank Warren at the line of scrimmage on a run.

A player that is really starting to turn some heads at Dallas Cowboys training camp is UDFA Alex Albright from Boston College. Albright was a defensive end for BC and is making the conversion to outside linebacker. The reason he wasn’t drafted was because of his lack of speed and pass rushing moves. But the kid is all hustle and just makes plays all day.
He reminds me of former Rob Ryan pupil Matt Roth. At 6’5 254, Albright has the size you would look for in a 4-3 defensive end, but he doesn’t have the bulk to play end in either a 4-3 or 3-4. I really like him as a stand-up OLB and even though his chances are slim to make this team, right now I have him penciled in on my mock 53 (which drops tomorrow).

JG needs to stay true to his words that the best guys make the team. With all the rant about this guy from pretty much everyone, I would expect that he has a good shot. If he translates his practices into preseason games I absolutely would expect him to make the team. Outside of Ware, Spencer and Butler, I haven't heard any good things about any of our other OLBs during training camp so far - other than Alex Albright

Quietly outside linebacker Alex Albright is impressing people. Albright, an undrafted free agent from Boston College, made two tackles for loss on Saturday. He seems to be in the right positions during run plays and it appears he's not committing mental mistakes on a regular basis.

Why not?

I'm still hearing zero about Brandon Williams doing anything in camp.

Why should his roster spot be guaranteed?

this......I only heard like 1 or 2 blurbs about brandon williams. I think he spot shouldn't be safe. Let him and albright battle it out in preseason. the person who carries out their assignment and also make plays in the passing game should win that spot.

Hope he pans out too ..

But I read that on two of his big plays yesterday he was left unblocked.

Still ... coaches liked him a lot even before his big day yesterday.

They mentioned Albright on one of the radio stations the other day, saying he is impressing a few people. So he will need to be on some special teams to make the roster. And as was said, probably the 53rd guy.

But I see him as a practice guy squad. Or someone they keep in order to cut a player theay want to keep, slip hime through waivers. Sign him after game one. Cut Albright, sign him to the practice squad. Then they keep both players.

This saves cap money and if that veteren player doesn't work out, or gets released when Albright is ready, then his full year salary is not gauranteed. If that's the way it still works with the new CBA.

If not the 53 man roster then maybe the pracice squad. Either way that would count as making the team.

Like it says in the blog RR doesnt owe anything to B Williams, wasnt his pick. He is definitely on the bubble and needs to show something this pre season.

When the best thing they can say about you is you don't have much speed or pass rush moves and they compare you to Matt Roth, your upside is limited.
