Alex Barron article

I like the fact he can play both sides... Dallas isn't looking for him to start, he's a nice veteran to have and they can finally dump Mcquistan.

He sounds like Flozell-lite...

Swapping Carpenter for him sounds like an even trade. Maybe a fresh start here in Dallas, with the SB in their sites, will do wonders for him.

Younger and cheaper than Flozell with starts in this league. It gives us a serviceable guy in case Free or Columbo go down to an injury.

Now we have a serviceable swing tackle and a serviceable guard that have shown they are at least capable (Barron and Montrae). We are better now than we were right after the draft.

Mcquistan is a Guard; Barron is a Tackle, so how does he replace Mcquistan? I think that if anyone can potentially replace Mcquistan it's Brewster, who can be moved back to Guard if Barron is aquired. But Brewster will have to earn it in camp. If he proves capable then I think Mcquistan becomes the odd man out.

Good posts: the bottom line is this: he's BETTER than most ANY tackle we could have drafted from the 4th - 7th rounds. In other words, I'd take an avg. or even mediocre vet over an unproven rookie. Hopefully Houck can light a fire under him..........

FYI McQuistan plays RT as well....

I am going to try and give Barron the benefit over the doubt. I believe (rather hoping) that a fresh start with and outstanding position coach like Houck will inspire him to work harder. If I remember right we got Big Davis basically under these same conditions and he have been great for the Boys. So I am going to reserve judgement until after the off season and see what he can do in the preseason games. This could possibly be one of the best pick ups this year. A swingman with alot of experience.

Losing our swing tackle was a big worry when Free got the nod over Flozell. If he pans out, we've gotten an experienced one for the price of a guy who was probably going to be cut. I like it.
