Leatherwood was claimed by Chicago after being released by the Raiders. Word is that the Bears have been practicing Leatherwood at RT and looking to get him some experience at OG as well. However, he is not being forecast as a starter right now as the Bears are attempting to coach him up and develop him better than what Leatherwood showed with his time with the Raiders. All in all not a bad move by Chicago given that this is Leatherwood's remaining rookie contract:

2022: $1.3M cap hit $5.9M dead money
2023: $1.9M cap hit $4.5M dead money
2024: $2.6M cap hit $0 dead money
2025: 5th year rookie option

Leatherwood had 1,104 snaps his rookie year of 2021 (all at the RG position after being an OT in college) where he gave up 8 sacks, 17 QB hits, 42 QB hurries, and had 16 penalties. His 67 total pressures allowed were the most by an OL in the NFL last season. His last season at Alabama, while playing OT, Leatherwood gave up 3 sacks and 8 total pressures. "Leatherwood’s 2022 preseason wasn’t any better than his 2021 regular season. He allowed two sacks, two quarterback hits, and eight quarterback hurries on 89 pass-blocking snaps. Those 12 pressures led all offensive linemen this preseason."

While Dallas could not have claimed him given their late waiver spot, had he actually made it to the Dallas spot he would have been a decent reclamation project for an affordable price.

While it may have been a nice idea in Dallas, 2 sign him as a project, we got enough projects and not enough viable starters. I am glad we passed. Glad we are now focused on proven quality like Peters. He is plug and play in a pinch.

Thank you for the replies.
I would think the Cowboys are having enough problems getting LT into place to bring another into the mix.
